Tim Couch was not involved in the deal?

It has become pretty clear over the last two years or so that the Bears are not interested in paying out any big contracts and for that reason alone I don't see it ever happening.

They didn't resign Moose Muhammad when they could have, they just let Thomas Jones go for basically nothing, they have done little to nothing in free agency the last two years... I would be pretty shocked if they all of the sudden said.. ok .. sure we'll pay an often injured, 30 something, QB over 10 million a year..

I really think we're making McNabb into a much better quarterback than he actually is. He's a good quarterback running West Coast Offense. He's no Joe Montana. Heck, he's no Steve Young, either. I'm not too concerned about his continued status as the "best quarterback in the NFC East" or his domination over the Giants or Commanders. My main concern is the improvement of our defense to the point that it diminishes McNabb's ability to run the WCO effectively when we play Philadelphia.

You say that McNabb is no Joe Montana or Steve Young. Montana had Rice and Taylor as his receivers and Young had Rice and Terrell Owens at the same time. The Niners also had Ricky Waters and Rodger Craig as backs while Mcnabb has WestBrook( a third down back and that other guy who is always hurt). The Niners defense finished in the top 5 or ten for every super bowl win they had. McNabb has been the lone super star for the Eagles, except for one year with TO. Think about what you say before you say it.

The cap hit the bears would take with McFlab under his current contract is probably the reason it WON'T happen.

Completely agree 100%.

The league has media blitzed McNabb to the fans bcause he is good (not great) and black.

The Eagles defense has been the difference over the years for the most part.IMO

I was not being racist just a viewpoint on marketing and Eagles team, so for those that are offended cry elsewhere!

Thank you Rush Limbaugh. McNabb has been able to carry an otherwise weak Eagles offensive team for years, but choked in the superbowl( 3 tds and 300 yards passing) while it took Manning longer to get there even though he has 2 first round WR's and has had 3 first round RB's and a first round TE and a first rate offensive line. Put McNabb in that Colt offense or the Pats offense and he might have had several superbowl rings by now.

another significant problem with McNabb that's not his fault.....

He's played his whole career in the wrong offense.

The WCO requires a QB who has a more accurate than strong arm.

Although the WCO does put the QB on the move a good bit, it does not require a tremendous athelete to run it.

In fact all the 3 step drop plays take a great running QB's running ability out of the equation.

For all of his running ability, McNabb's never actually been all that good throwing on the run. Something the WCO often calls for.

This should be McNabb's offense:

Majority of the plays should be 7-9 step dropps.

Looking for recievers running deeper, longer developing plays.
The type of routes that stress arm strenght more and accuarcy less.

The deeper drops would create larger passing pockets. Harder to pass block but also harder to contain a mobile QB like McNabb.

The larger pass pockets and longer developing plays would give him more running opportunities.

Good post; Mcnabb should have gone to a team like the Raiders.... oh well

If briggs comes to Chicago, that really will suck... however I think briggs is a system player more than anything else; what system do you ask? Playing next to the best and second-most athletic Linebacker in the league.
