Just very interested to hear how people view this phrase and how you value it in relation to this team.
From a simple definitional viewpoint, I think trying hard is for losers.
That is just my brutal way of looking at things.
It is very very easy to blame the players. They just are not good enough.
They are not executing. But they are "trying".
If a player "tries hard" doing everything they are coached to do, what then?
Is that a reflection that they are "trying hard" for themselves?
Doing the best they can in the system?
That has been the big rallying cry all season.
They are "trying".
I would love someone to tell me what exactly that means.
To me, I saw the defense "trying".
I saw an offense that was going through the motions of a moribund offense.
So what constitutes "trying" and how do you use that to decide how things are?
