MIAMI -- If a phone call last May was just a little different, Tyler Patmon would have been playing against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night as a member of the Miami Dolphins, not for them.

After going undrafted and unable to secure a rookie free-agent contract, Patmon had offers from the Cowboys and Dolphins to attend a rookie minicamp tryout. He chose the Cowboys’ offer and played well enough to earn a contract for training camp.

On Saturday, Patmon had two interceptions, returning one 9 yards for a touchdown, forced a fumble, deflected two passes and led the Cowboys with five tackles.

“I made a few plays,” Patmon said. “I left a couple out there, but I definitely made some plays.”

The Cowboys’ cuts start this week and the 53-man roster will be finalized by Saturday. Patmon is not thinking he has anything made.

Patmon was born at Round Rock, TX, went to high school at Cedar Park, TX, and went to college at OK St. I'm not sure the phone call could have been different other than another team other than the Cowboys.

Patmon deserves some time with the ones next week. They have to find out about him and quick

Too bad the ones won't play next week. But, Claiborne might still be nursing his toe in two weeks, so Patmon might be needed. (Just a note of frustration here)

I love how he's played out there. Even Mitchell has impressed me with his style of play. I can see these two in place of Moore and Webb.

What? I can do that...

playing Madden.

I can't. I suck at playing CB in Madden. You'd think I might luck into maybe 5 or 6 INTs a season considering how aggressive I am in going for the INT (every single downfield pass). But no. I just end up getting toasted for 60 yard TDs constantly. :)

So when players play bad, we can jump on them and talk about it right away...but when a player plays good, we have to continue and see if he can do it often.

Sigh...

Welcome to the Zone!

Yeah, the way the article starts you would think it was a tension filled negotiation for hostages.

This. Minter looked pretty poor last night after a big week last week.

And the pick 6 was just due to Moore losing focus. He bobbled the snap and still tried to force the timing play and he jumped it. Good instincts and timing but let's hold off on saying how great this kid is. That was all against 2nd and 3rds.

Forced fumble and the 1st INT was against the Miami's 1s.

This defense needs playmakers in the worst way. I say give the kid a shot. We got nothing to lose if he washes out

Pieces with parts worn out, don't work as a primary gear...Moore. It takes time to program for a cut and as well as tremendous cutting ability to replace a gear, when making one's own.

But this Green, hits character for the new style of 'preferred' cornerback. That he has speed is a big plus. Since he was waived, this project needs tweeking, drying, and further tweeking to get a rock solid gear.

Ah, what?

He also made a heady play on that 55 yard run, timing the tackle and trying to punch the ball out at the end.

The guy does what the coaches tell him to do. He makes plays. And he can play the slot. He's made the team already for that reason, alone. Let's hope we really did steal one.

This is a great point. He comments on film study and doing what the coaches tell him makes is seem like he is very coachable.

Yeah, I had to smile when listening to his post-game interview, because he sounded like he was really politicking. He was really stuffing the buzzwords about taking advantage of opportunities, about going after the ball, about listening to his coaches and showing them he was listening. Somehow, it went beyond the expected cliches and got into the territory of daring them not to keep him. Which, of course, was moot after the game he had. :)
