Tyler is left tackle. Tyron is either rt or swing tackle .

He is long term, but based on current roster construction or until Tyron gets his annual injury he’s your starting LG for better or worse.

Can we stop freaking out about drafting a day 1 starter at LG? The team has shown under McCarthy they are a “best 5” OL team. This means our starters on paper will be:

Smith/Smith/Tyler B/Martin/Steele

Had the team wanted Tyler at LT and Tyron/Steele on the bench they would’ve prioritized a LG. If there’s anything this team drafts for it’s need.

You get Farniok and Chuma as your IOL depth and Waletzko as your 4th T. With multiple injuries Tyler Smith would slide out to T while Farniok/Chuma/day 3 draft pick would battle it out to be the first one in if there’s an issue on the IOL.

The key is Waletzko being the swing I think he can be and the team says he can be. If so we are fine at OL.

Is that not a deep OL? Again, you have to see it from the lense that Tyler Smith is starting which all signs are pointing to. With a draft pick that’s 11 OL.

Problem is Tyrone health but I do agree I think they are going to have their best 5 linemen starting I don’t care what Jerry says.

Eh I think it was smoke because if so they would’ve drafted an LG high.

They’ve been best 5 since mikes been here and I don’t see that changing. Especially without a high pick to compete for the spot.

You cant trust Tyron for longer than maybe a two game stretch

Total dud of a 2nd round pick taking a TE when we have two young competitive TEs already in the roster who were flashing over the franchise tagged TE we had

Dallas runs plenty of 2 and 3 TE sets. One injury from Jake or Peyton and the offense isn't the same.

I was against drafting TE in the first but in the 2nd round I'm good. Especially when he can block and catch with no injury or character concerns like most of Dallas 2nd round picks

Well that’s yet to be determined my guess is they want to keep Tyler at left tackle but you may be right

Mike Solari just said on the FAN when interviewed a little while ago that this offseason they plan to work Tyler Smith at Tackle this offseason. Not sure what that means for the regular season. Just to start or the plan for the year? Said more than once they want to just get the best 5 on the field

I could be with Tyron as swing, but at his salary and play when healthy it doesn’t make sense to sit one of your best 5. Especially when he’s a HOF LT.

Again, we don’t see Waletzko daily like the team does. They’ve had him for a year already and he’s taken some PS snaps. If they see him and feel he can do the job then I can’t blame them.

There’s every chance a IOL we draft high doesn’t work out also. Smith we know can be good there. I’d rather be in wait and see mode about Wally than wait and see more about a starter.

Tyrone hasn’t played a full season in 5 years
You betting on a guy a year older to play a 17 games season. And if he goes down then you have to move two player. Chances are one of the tackles misses time and then you have Tyrone to step in

I get your thinking but it’s not really a “might” when it’s happened 5 years in a row
If he gets hurt you then have to change two guys
If Tyrone’s age and history wasn’t what it is I would agree. Doesn’t really matter since we didn’t take a guard so it’s a moot point now

Taking Fehoko in the 3rd, I guess they are comfortable with a an OL room that’s 10 deep. But thanks for breaking it down like this. It has calmed me down a bit… still would have liked to see an OL pick, but I guess the draft isn’t over yet.

I liked Wally last year. Injury cost him valuable work but he played solid in college with pour technique. Fix that and add some strength and he might can be the next Steele

This team preaches best 5 and has shown it under Mike. Farniok is not better than the 5 man lineup mentioned in the OP.

I don’t think Farniok is very good at guard. Biadasz wasn’t either. They are center only guys and their strength is agility, blocking left and right which is most blocks
