I'm shocked that everyone is happy about this.

Now we're probably gonna end up with Tony friggen Sparano.

What good is Mickey if all he does is speculate? I will always contend that he is the furthest from the true pulse of our team. That in itself is a shame, when he works around the team everyday. You would think he would have someone on the team or organization that he can confide in to tell him the lowdown.

I don't get it.

He was, to my knowledge, the first to throw out Palmer as a candidate for the job. Indeed, Palmer was the first to interview. And now, Mickey is the first (and only, so far?) to say that Palmer is headed to New Orleans.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see how he has been out of the loop in this whole OC thing.

This is bad news if true.

There definitely are some coaches who don't enjoy working with Parcells...but I would have thought Palmer would have been one that would have definitly wanted in though.

Lets see what happens, but Sparano is not the answer. The two worst performing units on offense were his responsibility.

We need a good staff for future's sake.

Not really.

We lost any chance of a decent future when Payton left. Once Parcells leaves, whomever he installs probably won't be worth keeping.

If I were Jerry Jones, I would step in and do something. This is getting very unnerving that we cannot even get someone Parcells is familiar with.

If I were Jones, I would throw all the money at Heimerdinger and hope that Parcells would sign off on the move. The absolute worst thing we could do is promote Sparano to be nothing but a "yes man".

You tell 'em Chad!! :p: I may have missed something, but this is the 1st time in the 3 years I've been on this site, that I've seen you take a stand and support the Mick, although you must of had an inside opinion on him.

Its not just the OC thing. This goes back to the dreaded debate, the off-season moves, and never really breaking any news first hand of importance. The bottomline is that Mickey just speculates. Just speculates!

What else is he supposed to do when there is not actual news to break? His speculations are based on what he's hearing behind closed doors, ie. with his knowledge that Palmer was coming in for an interview. Sure, it was "speculation," but it was based on what he was hearing from people in the know.

He can't break the news that an offensive coordinator has been hired or has been brought in to interview if no such hirings or interviews have occurred. All he can do is speculate.

And you say "it nos just the OC thing." Again, I ask you, where was he wrong with regards to Palmer? He broke the news he was likely on our radar, and now breaks the news he has chosen to land somewhere else. Yet, in your original post, it seemed to me -- and again, I could be wrong -- like you were using this specific instance as ammo in your case against him.

To add, expect more "speculation" once the draft rolls around. Like when he "speculated" the day before the draft on The Ticket that, "don't be surprised" if Quincy Carter was on our radar. And how, a few years back, we liked that defensive lineman, Kevin Williams, who a majority here (self included) became a nervous wreck that we may spend such a high pick on a guy that seemed like a nobody at the time. And, indeed, people inside the organization have since admitted publicly, and have been quoted, saying that we were interested in him.

You can't definitively say who we will hire, sign, draft, etc. in advance. There are far too many variables at play. Again, all you can really do is speculate.

No, mickey didn't break the news that he was on the radar. Mickey put his money that Palmer would be our next OC. This is why all the frenzy is going on about Palmer. Mickey gave his prediction or speculation that Palmer was the man. We all knew that Palmer was going to interview, but to say that he would put his money on PAlmer would lead the average person to believe that Palmer is THE MAN. Especially when you take into account that he works "in the know"! So, to answer your question, he was wrong in his prediction that PAlmer would be the next OC and not just interview. You also prove my point when saying he speculates about info behind closed doors. Ive been in "the know" and know how info can leak. Mickey never gets hold of that insider info that most would think he has access to. He has for awhile now been the furthest from "the know" within the prganization. Say what you want Dale, I like your chances of getting important info and breaking than what Mickey has done for the last 3-4 years.

Personally, I think Mick is just about the best and most accurate source on the Cowboys. I don't see what the problem is...

I do wonder who the next guy is going to be? I wouldn't be surprised if Sparano gets promoted. He might even turn out to be a better option than a lot of folks think. Hey, a guy can hope.

To my knowledge, no one even suggested Palmer as a candidate prior to Mickey. Thus my saying that he broke the news that he would be on the radar.

I'll reserve judgment on how "wrong" he was now that Palmer has landed elsewhere when we see a more detailed report. It looks awfully fishy to me that he came in and interviewed here -- was there even a reported interview going on in New Orleans? -- and even caused Jerry to leave Mobile to come in and talk to him (leading one reporter to say that that made it seem like a sure bet he would be hired), only to see him land elsewhere the next day? And not even in New York, who also was reportedly hot on his trail?

Again, I'm interested in seeing the details of what went down that caused him going elsewhere.

The fact Palmer, to date, has been the reported lone candidate to interview leads me to believe that, on our end, he WAS the man. Maybe he didn't like the idea of coming here? I guess we'll find out later tonight.

If this is true, this is somewhat disturbing.

I truly doubt that Parcells would interview his old friend, someone he is very familiar with (and the only candidate so far) and decide to pass on him.

Which would mean that Palmer turned down Parcells ... to work for a guy who just got out from under Parcells' enormous shadow.

Maybe they traded war stories about what it's like to try to work with Parcells.

My thoughts exactly, Chief. Was there even any reported in Palmer from New Orleans?

It's definitely disturbing that, seemingly, Payton has already pulled a fast one on Parcells.

we are going to pass the ball approximately 37 times next season. only 2 of those passes will be beyond 15 yards. the other 35 will be screen passes.
