***Ultimate Running Game Thread***

His one big game in 2 years??

You seem to have forgotten the Carolina game last year that made the passing game an ornament.

Gotta throw my 2 cents in here. I still believe in JuJo, but that faith has been waining over the course of the last 2 seasons. Remember his rookie year? Comming back in the last half of the season after that freak injury? He was spectacular. Instinctive. He made people miss & juked out of what looked like sure tackles for positive yardage. Comparisons were made to Tony D for crying out loud.

He just doesn't run like that anymore. Even those of you who are ardent supporters have to admit that, if only to yourselves & not publicly on this board. The Seattle game? C'mon. In his rookie year, the majority of his games were like that. I personally think he was overcoached - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. But that's just my opinion. Whatever the reason, he is no longer the same as he once was. Those of you who can't see it need to clean the spots off those rose colored glasses.

Julius Jones ...lets call it like it is - he stinks and you know it...he doesn't make people miss - he doesn't bang heads - he doesn't explode thru the hole anymore and he can't get in the EZ!
We know the OL is questionable - but he still stinks.

When I see Barber - I see toughness - excitement - playing hard, above his talent almost - giving it his all....

And don't think Bill doesn't see the same - he's looked around for other backs - and there was a rumor on draft day of a deal with JJ to the Jets etc...

I have ZERO faith in him this season and IMO by Mid Season Tyson Thompson will surpass him on the depth chart.

Unfortunately I agree that Jones is never going to be a top rb
1) lacks vision- consistently runs to defenders when holes are apparent

2) cant catch the ball out of the backfield- almost fights the ball

3) cant stay healthy

4) Has 0 elusiveness

Barber appears to do all of the above- only time will tell who is the better back.

his vision is not terrible, he never has anywhere to go

his hands are decent enough...i cant think of him dropping any easy balls

he has had 2 injuries that were not really his fault, could happen to anyone. hes been unlucky IMO

0 ELUSIVENESS? you have to be kidding me there. Watch the hotstepper video if you need clarification. barber seems to be less elusive...more of a power back imo

heres a new idea for you to try: shut up and go chase a parked car! yeah i like that idea too, now run along little one

:damn:

:banghead: :lmao2: :bang2: :yousuck: :thumbdo: :moon: :explode:

I completely agree with x-dawg.
When Julius Jones runs the ball, you can predict the outcome 99% of the time. He'll either run into the pile for 1 yard, or get caught up in the backfield for a 3 yard loss....for God's sake..Drew Bledsoe had more rushing yards than Jones didn't he?

You people who think a back who splits carries in college is going to be the featured back are morons... sounds like when hambrick thought he was better then emmitt. we all know how that looked when people GAME planned against him... I view MB the same way. looks good when he isnt the focal point. He had ONE good game against the Cardnals and people are ready to saaaaaaaaaaaay wow how great MB3 is woohoo. you people need to give it a break. JJ is the starter MB3 is the backup/3rd back. What the saying? people are always pineing for the backup..geat real

so I guess you missed the catch he made that he made two defenders miss within about 3 yards?

Man, you are too easy.... :eekmouse:

Is it just me or does Barber seem to be making a claim to be the feature...Sure I love JJ but it just seems like Barber is more hungry....What do yall think...I see barber finish runs better then JJ lately...feedback...It seems like Barber finds the first down quicker...peace

I am worried about Julius. I'm not a big fan of controversies because they're inherrently distractions to the team. But the more I see of both Barber and Jones does make me wonder if Barber might eventually take the starting role.

By the looks of things so far in the pre-season Barber by far is the better back....no question

Well pass the damn ball then. TO, Glenn, Crayton, Witten, Fasano, even Rector and Hurd.

I know one things for sure, running on first down every single time we take the ball is going to leave us in a lot of 2nd and 9s, 10s, 11s, and 12s. I would pass to set up the run. We have the fire power, just step outside the box and shock us come Jacksonville, BP.

The sky isn't falling, but it could be if BP is his same ole predictable self come week one.

That is all.

Most teams that are successful using the pass to open up the run, utilize the WCO.
