While I didn't see the second half of the game, I don't think you can make that assumption based off of the first half. The run blocking was atrocious. On 3 or 4 of Julius' runs he was tackled immediately after recieving the hand off. One of them he had 3 defenders pass through our line almost unblocked to make the tackle. Two more were to the outside where the pulling linemen seemingly blocked nobody as he had 2 or 3 defenders on him. Both of those were for 3 or 4 yard losses.

I haven't seen the game yet, but almost everytime Barber carried the ball in the second half, Brad Sham was screaming "THERE'S A HUGE HOLE FOR BARBER!"

Yeah, blocking has something to do with it.

It's a conspiracy I tell you. The O-line wants Barber to start so they are purposely blocking bad for JJ. ;)

Seriously though, the fact that he was screaming that there was a hole should tell you something about how many holes there were in the first half.

Is it just me or does Bledsoe take for ever to hand off the ball. This might be part of our Running problems. By the time Bledsoe decides to walk back and hand the ball off the defenders are all over poor O'l JJ.

A combination of slow QB-RB exchange, bad Oline play and poor vision from the Rb is not a good Combo.

Anyways I know it's not a big deal, but just keep an eye on it.

Barber first two runs behind the 1st team O-Line were 1-2 yarders as well, he didn't start breaking out until the 2nd team D took the field, or did no one notice that?

Yeah and I pointed that out last year also...

Bledsoe puts more strain on an o-line than any other QB that I can think of

True, but we also need to pass the ball until teams quit stacking the box on 1st and 2nd downs....BILL!:bang2:

We will. Also, teams will back off when TO hits the field. 8 man front then equals over the top TD to TO.

I dont think so. It may look like it but he isnt any slower than any other QB on the handoff. His stature gives an illusion of slow movement but it isnt the case.

Yes, the O-line in Buffalo looked so much better after Bledsoe left  They only gave up 60+ sacks.

I don't think the handoff issue is entirely Bledsoe. Some of the handoff is orchestrated. Get the o-line thinking pass, baiting them into rushing the passer, etc.

Yeah, blocking has something to do with it.

that would be correct...he was running vs the backups and we had alot more success then...

when Barber ran in the first half against the starters he didnt do anything

Barber will be our Feature back if JJ continues to play poorly. Count on it.

and it wont make a shred of difference if the OL run blocks like it did last night

nobody makes 3 or 4 guys miss in the backfield

You are right almost everytime JJ got the ball the blocking sucked. I wish thompson could pass block better, because he might be our best back.

Lest we forget there were some who thought Hambrick was "the man" because he out-averaged Emmitt. But when Ham_bust became the starter and focus of the defense....welll.....
