Underappreciated Ronald Jones?

In 5 years Jones has 505 career rushing attempts and 77 career receptions.

Not sure where 'declining' is coming from.
Well, he had 17 attempts for 70 yards & 1 reception last year. On a championship team.

He's never cracked a 1000 yards rushing & his last two years total less than 500 yards. He will be going into his sixth NFL season.

Do any of those things support an ascending player point of view?

You said “would still love Derrick Henry the most as our 3rd back with Pollard and Mini Me.” The way that is written is he is would be our 3rd back. My apologies for reading it different than intended
No problem, and sorry if I was snippy about it. Bad morning. Look at that, civil conversation on the internet. It can happen.

What’s there to appreciate about Ronald Jones? He’s a jag! He’s done nothing for the Cowboys and hasn’t done anything the past two seasons. The Cowboys are his third team in three years. I find it pretty funny that some fans are talking up Jones like he’s something special but some of those same fans are bashing Zeke claiming he sucks. Lol

I'd like to see him play first before kicking him to the curb. Why are so many fans against letting this play out a bit?

I don’t see how anyone could get excited about Ronald Jones. He’ll get an opportunity but it’s pretty comical watching a few fans trying to pump him up into something great. Lol Typical of our fan base to tear down some of our best players but attempt to glorify an average player who’s not making a lot of money. No fan base can find more good from sifting through garbage than this fan base. Lol

I’m not one of those who’s against allowing it to play out, but I just hope we don’t end up stuck with Jones and find out he or no one else we enter the season with can do the job. We’re going to end up struggling offensively if we can’t move the chains in critical short yardage situations or punch the ball in the endzone from close up. We had games last season where it was like running into a brick wall and we have to have someone who can push the pile and squeeze out of yard.

Nice share, and I think he is the final answer in the backfield at least until camp.
I think that Pollard and Vaughn are locks and whoever makes the team after those 2 will have to play very well in camp. I think that they keep 4. I'll guess Pollard, Vaughn, Davis, and Luepke. I think that all 6 are going to look good in camp.

They aren't going to be stuck with anybody. Whoever makes the team will be playing well. These guys will be playing to be a millionaire. They will be playing for their lives.

I didn't see anybody excited about Pacheco last season either.

Using a late 6th round pick on a gadget back
Vaughn is a gadget back? According to who? Certainly not anyone who knows him or anyone with the Cowboys. You don't lead college football in total yards being a gadget back.
As for Schoon? We'll see how much of an upgrade he is over Schultz this season. My guess is not much.
Schoon walked in a much better blocker. He is at least as good of a receiver.

The RBs we had in 2015 were playing for their lives and it didn’t work out. The receivers we signed in free agency in 2018 were playing for their lives, but it didn’t work out. You can definitely end up stuck with someone if you don’t have the right player.

Stop looking at a run 3 years ago and pretending he's done anything close to that in recent years. 3 years is a lifetime for a RB. The guy is now a jag and might be ok in a limited role but not short yardage cause he sucks at that.

He’s only going to look good because he’ll probably provide the same production and role as Zeke at 1/100th the price tag. That doesn’t make it a great pick up, just that the Boys hung on to Zeke for too long. If we could get him without the 30 year old giant RB contract, would still love Derrick Henry the most as our 3rd back with Pollard and Mini Me.
Oh, there would be two bell cows that all defenses will hate to match up with alongside the amped up Dallas passing game now.

Oh, he will help...a real football player.

He plays for a great team and it’s not like he put up a ton of yards. However, he averaged 4.9 per carry. You’re not going to become a great team depending on someone else’s garbage.

In KC is was 4th string behind Isiah Pacheco, Jerick McKinnon and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Exactly how many carries do you think he should have got?

He didn't have a 1000 yard season but he did get 978 yards in 2020 (5.1 ypc) but keep in mind TB also had Leonard Fournette there too.

I can't find a single post of posters suggesting he's better than Pollard or should start. Hell, just last week, I posted my concern about not drafting or signing a legit RB to share to load with TP. Just me, but after seeing some highlights, I think he'll do fine AS A BACKUP, which was stated in the OP.

Fournette is still available right now, as well.
