That's all he is here for. He is a backup. That is what they are for - insurance. True at all positions.

BTW he was the clear #1 in TB in 2020. You know, the year they won the super bowl!
yeah, they finally reshuffled the RB room and he was the lead back for the majority of the season but Fournette took more of the load down the stretch.

We're in trouble if he's getting a lot of carries. He couldn't even get on the field last year. His good season was in 2020, which is a lifetime ago for running backs.

Alternatively, the fan base is used to watching Zeke run in slow motion for 3 yards so they might be impressed by Ronald Jones.

Gotta love when someone posts highlight videos of a player to convince everyone they are wrong about him.

Jones couldn’t beat out CEH and couldn’t crack the KC active roster. He’s slow to boot. Anyone who thinks Zeke was slow is going to be losing it when this guy gets to the second level. If he does.

Put it this way. If pollard goes down. We’re in big trouble. But fans here think we’re good at RB because they are just as short sighted as the FO. Same FO who rushed Gallup back and thought he’d be fine, same FO who planned on Tyron starting all year lol. This team is reactive, never proactive. Better pray pollard stays healthy.
I mean 98 yards is longer than Zeke's long the last 3 years ;). I don't know why Jones didn't get many carries with KC, but he was probably the 3rd or 4th guy the moment he walked in the door so I would imagine his opportunities weren't as plentiful. Sometimes it works out that way. With Jones he's not flashy or a make you miss runner, but he runs with good power is a N/S 1 cut type of runner with solid vision. I mentioned before I liken it to an Alfred Morris type signining. Solid veteran who provides some insurance in the room.

We don't know what we have in Vaughn or Davis yet, but I like their upside better than what we had #1 on the depth chart last year.

Pollard and Zeke!!

Never has there been any argument that a poster has lost more badly then you on those two players.

Are you still trying to act like you nailed that argument?

I don't have to let anything go. Heck there are Zeke threads all the time on here. Pollard is still a Cowboy

Only one to blame here is yourself.
The only argument is in your own head. You are the one that keeps bringing up Zeke no matter what I post.
Get over yourself.
You are still making things up.

You are Zeke obsessed 24 / 7.

There is no doubt that he will make the team. How many 6th rounders play for the Cowboys now?
Donovan Wilson 19/6
Quinton Bohanna 21/6
Israel Mukuamu 21/6
Devin Harper 22/6

and 7th rounder Matt Farniok 21/7 taken after the 6th

Anthony Brown 16/6 was on the team.

We need a dominant running attack and while Pollard is great, giving him the ball 20x per game is not going to be good for him.
I agree with this. But we all know he won't be getting the ball that many times. That's never been the plan.

If he is getting a lot of carries it certainly wouldn't be bad. They wouldn't give him a lot of carries if he was bad.

Right, just like they wouldnt give a lot of carries to Zeke if he was bad. They featured the horrid Zeke for the better part of 4 years with the better runner riding the bench.

Thats what I call it. The last 3 years anyway were bad. Especially when the next guy is averaging over 6 ypc most of the time.

How can you actually doubt that the FO wouldnt play a bad back when you just watched them screw it all up the last 4 years with Zeke and Pollard?

Next question............have you EVER watched Jones play in a game for the entire game? Did you watch his two years in Tampa?

Next question.................Do you just trust the FO in whatever they do and think all their moves are great?

Like I said before, I think that our backs will be good. I think the 4 backs will be Pollard, Vaughn, Davis, and Luepke. That might work out fine or it might not.

To me its 70% about the Oline, which I am not convinced is going to be good enough. How can we possibly know about Vaughn, or Luepke? Now if we had a great line and I could be convinced the OC would use them properly I might have more confidence.

I like both guys and what they showed in college. Thats about all I can say. Each guy has a certain skill set. Now will the OC have one role for a back and expect them all to do the same thing like they have been doing? We cant know.

To me the run game and the moves they made with the OL and at RB are most troubling. Especially considering MM crowed about wanting to get back to running the ball more.

Have a buddy who who saw most of Jones games with the Bucs and tells me he can’t block worth a damn. Did a quick Google search and Jones did have history with picking up his assignments. With Zeke gone, our best prospect an undersized RB, and Pollard who ‘allegedly’ wasn’t a good enough blocker to get more snaps than Zeke until last year…. Just starting to wonder who will block. I bet Dak is going to feel a little more vulnerable in that pocket this year with his boy Zeke not protecting his back anymore.

Jones had some decent stretches but has kind of been a disappointment and after last year I just don’t think you can expect much from him and maybe not even to make the 53. When a vet signs that early for a one year $1.2M contract it’s telling IMO. But, who knows, maybe he surprises. it wouldn’t be the first time Someone did

Malik Davis RB2
Deuce Vaughn RB2.5
Rico Dowdle RB3
Ron Jones RB4
What is Jeff talking about?
It's completely subject to change, but Malik is the only one I've seen play & that's been very limited. I thought he was good against GB, so for now he's my 1st choice for RB2.

Deuce had a heck of a college career & his highlight reels look great. There's still a lot of questions though because I don't watch college ball & because of his size. If his Dad wasn't working for the Cowboys, I think I'd feel better about picking him.

Ron Jones had a very short highlight reel, but that 1 run was awesome. He also somehow managed to grab that low pass without letting it hit the ground. Sure there was some luck involved, but talented players tend to be luckier than less talented players.

Rico is just a familiar name to me. By now they ought to have a pretty good idea of how good he is. If the powers that be think he's a keeper, I'm OK with that.

Well, his dad didn't have anything to do with scouting him.

Vaughn was the #1 player on their board when they were on the clock.
