Someone gets it.peplaw06;2197203 said:Translation: "If you don't agree with me that this defense is so bad we're going to go 0-16, then you MUST believe that we're going 19-0 and winning the Super Bowl. there is no middle ground!!!!!!!!!!!!"
completely agree with the fact that we probably will not win 13 games this year. First of all no team in franchise history had ever done it. Plus I don't think this team will bring it every week like they did for the majority of the season last year. I seriously think this team is going to leave something in reserve for December/January. I am thinking more like 11 wins and better playoff performnaces. That is what the Chargers did last yerar. They did not match the 14 wins from the year before...but they advanced to the AFC championship game.theebs;2197197 said:good grief.
the last 13 years have nothing to do with this roster, that is a media talking point. the last two years do. they are valid.
Nobody can touch us? I dont know where that is coming from, no one expects that. In this division a 10 or 11 win season will be a great one, so be prepared for a few losses, maybe even a lopsided one or two. With the quality of defenses and quarterbacks we face this year, we are not going to be 13-3.
Keep things in perspective.

for the record...i usually ignore cats that have limited football related responses...listen...you are new to the board.....get some skins on the wall before you start shucking and jiving...i used the the words and phrases exactly the way i meant to. for the record, "ain't" is extremely good grammar.:laugh2:

My theory is you are what you eat.superpunk;2197434 said:There is a middle ground, but it's for *******.
Pick a side, nancy.
superpunk;2196951 said:Many super bowl champions would dispute that it is and always has been about defense. You don't have to be the best defense in the NFL, although it would be nice. With this offense, you just have to hold your own, make plays, and get the offense the ball back.
Keep in mind that it wasn't our defense that failed in the clutch against the Giants.
Star4Ever;2197598 said:we win that game if the Giants don't score before the half.
Star4Ever;2197617 said:No, 2+2=5 is a mistake.
Our defense needs to step up this year and be one of the most dominant defense in the entire league. Why? Because the talent is there and JJ has written the checks to prove it. I expect this D to be dominant, not just good. That's not too much to expect and saying everyone makes mistakes is just an excuse. I don't want excuses.

After being home for a week and not in a training camp setting I think this team will start to focus. they have two more quarters to get a little bit of momentum, I think we will see them play with more energy and more want to at home friday.
If they come out flat and lazy on friday and the texans put up a bunch of points then there maybe an inkling of concern. however If you really look at last night, they got a bad call on the offense that stopped a drive and then the defense actually did stop them on the second drive but that asinine call on james kept the drive going.
Anthony henry had an INT pulled out of his hand by eddie royal, great play by royal. 9 times out of 10 that is picked or incomplete.
I really think it was frustrating to watch, but in the grand scheme of things there was nothing I saw that made me feel like this team has issues or will not play good defense.
you are a lightweight.....unworthy....insignificant...and limited...get your weight upAudiman;2197414 said:I'm sorry you're butthurt over me being new to the forum and being smarter than you. I'm also sorry you're butthurt over me actually having confidence in my favorite NFL team. I have two extra points to make:
1. a member's post count has nothing to do with how smart they are.
2. if you're seriously going to throw this team under the bus after two preseason losses, then you suck at being a fan and should probably "shuck and jive" your *** out of here.

The post count smack talk... ah, so important to the innernets. It's the ultimate trump card.bbailey423;2197743 said:you are a lightweight.....unworthy....insignificant...and limited...get your weight up
You have more posts than him; therefore you are more significant than him.peplaw06;2197774 said:The post count smack talk... ah, so important to the innernets. It's the ultimate trump card.
You sure do talk a lot of ish for someone who has a whoppin one post per day. Just sayin.
I don't see how anyone can dispute this post, it's spot on. And unless you are so blinded in homerism that you can't see that we've not been dominant, and especially when teams go to a no huddle, or 2 minute offense.bbailey423;2196913 said:I will keep saying it...but until this defense starts to play 2000 Ravens like defense, this team will not take the next step. Some might think that is asking too much, but tell me why?
Jerry is in a real tought spot when it comes to this defense. All I know is there has been a stream of traffic in and out of his door from agents/players claiming they are all-world and they want to get paid.....AND HE HAS PAID THEM. And the line outside his door still has guys in it. There is DeMarcus Ware, there is Chris Canty, there is Tank Johnson, there is Kevin Burnett, there is Marcus Spears....and not too far in the back I think I see Adam Jones.
Here is why it is not to much to ask for this defense to play like a DOMINANT unit.
Greg Ellis, top 10 pick, has received multiple big time bonuses...when he was drafted and when he has been extended
Terrance Newman, top 5 pick, has received multiple big time bonuses...when he was drafted and when he has been extended
DeMarcus Ware, top 11 pick, received big money on rookie contract, I am sure he and his agent expect him to be the highest paid defensive player in the NFL
Roy Williams, top 10 pick, has received multiple big time bonuses...when he was drafted and when he has been extended
Ken Hamlin, one of the highest paid Safeties in the NFL
Marcus Spears, 1st round pick, received big money on rookie contract...I am sure he and his agent want some of Jerry making it rain
Mike Jenkins, 1st round pick, received big money on rookie contract
Bobby Carpenter, 1st round pick, received big money on rookie contract
Anthony Spencer, 1st round pick, received big money on rookie contract
Bradie James, not a high draft pick, but has received guaranteed money equivalent to a high draft pick
Jay Ratliff, not a high draft pick, but has received guaranteed money equivalent to a high draft pick
Kevin Burnett, 2nd round pick, I am sure he and his agent see that contract Bradie James got and would like to get something along those lines
And then there is Chris Canty, who was not a high draft pick...but I am almost positive he has not extended because he wants more than the Cowboys want to pay....he wants more than Jay Ratliff got....he see's the contract Tommy Kelly got in Oakland and he wants to be in that neighborhood....which again, would make him one of the higest paid DL in the NFL.
So in reveiw of what I just laid out....this defense from starters to depth is full of top 10 picks and/or top 10 compensation. Which is why Jerry should expect and receive DOMINANCE.
So it does not matter that we did not sign a big time #2 WR, it does not matter that Brad Johnson is the backup, it does not matter that we spent ANTOHER 2nd round pick on a TE...it does not matter tha we refuse to spend a premium draft pick on a WR...it does not matter that our track record drafting OL lately has been abysmal....because this offense will find a way to get us 24 points in most weeks. It comes down to this defense playing every snap as if the score was 0-0. That is how they are being compensated. To shut down the opposition. That is the side of the ball that Jerry is up to his ears in resources. With the line of guys wanting him to "show me the money" growing. The Ravens won a Super Bowl with Trent *** Dilfer at QB. Because there defense refused to lose. The Giants stop the most prolific offenses in the playoffs and in the Super Bowl because there defense refused to lose. It is and always has been about defense at the end of the day. Which is why Jerry has spent so lavishly. I just wonder aloud if he has spent it on the right guys!
That post is right on the money.Jerry has paid these guys tons of money. and he has not gotten his money's worth yet.my opinion is he has overpaid for some of these guys.Clove;2198138 said:I don't see how anyone can dispute this post, it's spot on. Wade was brought in for one reason, DEFENSE.
