It'd be interesting to see if there's a correlation between preseason penalties and penalties in the following regular season. My guess is there isn't, or if there is it's not very strong.

I don't know but I'd guess it does correlate well. Doesn't matter to me because this team has consistently made too many penalties for some time preseason or regular season. It's a lot to overcome.

Reminder...a lot of our "penalties" were the result of some very questionable calls.

Or are we assuming we will get that many strange calls every game we play?

Speaking of defense. Does anybody else wonder why Cowboy defenders always help up opposing teams players? I mean i saw Bradie James help up Brandon Jacobs last year.

Until this defense starts to not give a **** about opposing offenses i doubt they will ever see "greatness". Anybody else notice?

Dude, thank you!

That annoys the ever loving bile out of me. My college coach would have had them running miles of laps for that. Let them expend energy to get up, or to help each other up.

I notice little subtle things during games and in the playoff game when Kavika Mitchell tackled Barber, Barber held his hand up to Mitchell and just got stared at. But carry on with the thread.:bang2:

exactly! you can be all buddy-buddy before and after the game. but during the game you do absolutely nothing to help the other team even if it is helping a guy up or picking up a loose helmet. they're big boys so they can get up by themselves or pick up there own helmets.

Marion remembers these types of things. Marion will not forget you, Kavika Mitchell. You must be punished severely.

i think kavika mithcell is no longer a giant...but I agree....how can hit somebody with the intention to hurt (not injure)...then help them up? perhaps guys do not hit with the intention to hurt anymore?

We always have a lot of questionable calls and I think most clubs do. I don't like using the refs as an excuse Hos. While it may be true some recent calls weren't based in reality, you are always going to get them. The trick is to avoid being in situations where you may draw a penalty. I think that might be lost on some but it's true.

We usually do get a lot of strange calls against us in the regular season. I probably notice it more with the Cowboys because I watch more Cowboys games. However, I have NFL Sunday Ticket and watch a lot of football.

I don't see anyone called for offsides when they're really not as often as Ware is. I can't remember the last time I saw an intentional grounding penalty as bogus as the one called on Romo in the playoff game last year. The Chicago game last year made me think the fix was in. eg not stopping the clock on the change of possession. I could go on and on.

I'm not using them as an excuse. I think if you check my History I do not ever attribute losses to bad calls. I'm just saying in addition to the Cowboys getting sharp, the refs need to as well, because there were some freaking boneheaded calls that caused our penalty numbers to rack up and look worse than they should have been.

I know you better than to think you're one to use that as an excuse. But there are a lot of others that appear to. Refs are always going to make mistakes. I'm glad they are held accountable.

I don't know the exact count but we makes too many mistakes....pre-snap and post whistle especially. And we just continue on and on with it. The players need to start fining each other or something.

If the Cowboys don't get a kick butt attitude on the whole team, the Skins, and Gaints will give them fits. They need a defensive coach who has a kick butt attitude, not a yes man.Bring in one of Buddy Ryans sons.Other than that, they will not make the playoff.

Not crazy about Buddy, or his sons. Personally, I would like to steal someone from Jim Johnson's coaching tree. Only problem is will a Jim Johnson protege be able to coach a 3-4 D scheme.

But if you really wanted someone with some fire and brimstone (Coach Herring is a passionate guy by the by) then why not bring in a former Cowboy who has experience AND SUCCESS coaching both the 4-3 and the 3-4, none other than Ken Norton Jr.

And I am sure Rey Maualuga would appreciate having a familiar face coaching him with the Cowboys next year.:D
