I don't see how anyone can dispute this post, it's spot on. And unless you are so blinded in homerism that you can't see that we've not been dominant, and especially when teams go to a no huddle, or 2 minute offense.

I'm not the biggest SOB (son of bum) supporter but I will say that last year's defense was better than anything we've had around here in several seasons.

I'm not ready to label this a POS defense after two exhibition games.

Ive been on this Forum for a couple months. And during that short time, I've read post saying that we shouldn't resign Marion Barber because we drafted Tashard Choice, that Felix Jones sucks and we should draft Mendenhall, Anthony Fasano is a star waiting to happen, and that we should go crazy over a preseason game, but this has to be the dumbest thread ive ever seen. So by this idiotic logic, the Cowboys have to play as good or better than argubly the greatest defense in the NFL over the last 20 seasons. Wow.....

I cant take these stupid threads any more. I swear, ive never seen a group of more apprenhensive, self loathing and jut plan down right idiot fans in my life. You people Complain about ever thing. i have no interest in "being right"....but it is nice to see that some of you have finally logged in and posted the truth...I am a cowboy fan for life....I don't want to have to make posts like this...how can anyone call it any different....other teams are not shaking in their boots at the sight of the boyz...they are going right at us.....when the Ravens were in their prime teams were defeated before the got off the bus...i am not necessarily asking for us to match them stat for stat...but I loved their attitude...they were not going to let you in the end zone...and you were lucky to get a FG....they had an identity and an attitude....they did not care what the offense did...they just knew that they would not let you score....that is all I want to see from this defense...some sort of identity and attitude to match all of their physical stature...you never want to get a reputation around the league for being a bunch of big p*ssies

don't take my word for it...take the d-coordinators...he looked at the "talent" on that side of the ball...and before they even played a down he said they should be the best unit in the NFL. Are you saying that they should not be? I don't have the numbers in front of me...but how many othe teams have that much money and high draft picks tied up on defensive starters right now? Heck, our defense is so "loaded" that 4 out of our last 5 1st round picks will not start (Spears, Carpenter, Spencer, and Jenkins)....I know the Spears situation is still up in the air. But anyway, how many teams that have not won a playoff game in over a decade are so talented that 4 out of there last 5 first round picks will not even start? Just think about that for a min!

I don't think rushing the passer will be a problem. SOB doesn't thrill me, but
if there is any one thing his defenses do, it's rush the passer.

I guess I don't get it. No one can say that last year we didn't get after the QB. We had two guys in double digit sacks, had 46 sacks as a team which was 3rd in the NFL, and we did this with a suspect secondary.

We haven't played a real game yet, haven't had Newman out there, improved at Mike LB, and will start the season with Greg Ellis healthy, improved the coaching staff for our 2nd year in the system, and I'm supposed to believe that this Defense has regressed? Because 4 or 5 guys say so because of a couple of pre-season games where we are trying stuff and not game planning?

Ridiculous.

very good points....we will score....but there will be games in December and January that are all about "tough man contests"....we may only get 17 - 20...that is when the defense is going to have to hold someone to 13 - 17. We can do it...we just have to develop that kind of mindset.

I think the OP has a point. A lot of people expect great things from the D and the Cowboys. We haven't played like it (yet) and people are getting antzy. Ok. All I can say is it's the preseason. They aren't playing to win. They want to look at a lot of people esp at the bottom of the roster. You all know this. IOWs it's not time to get too upset. The only thing that bothers me is the mistakes. That's a trend that has not stopped. It doesn't matter what you do in preseason but you don't ever want to make mistakes. That does carry over. The rest is just preseason.

It'd be interesting to see if there's a correlation between preseason penalties and penalties in the following regular season. My guess is there isn't, or if there is it's not very strong.
