There are mysteries and no secret codes needing to be deciphered here. This team is getting beat at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Our running backs are averaging less than 2 yards before contact. Our QB is getting maybe two seconds to throw the ball and is getting pressured on over 25% of his throws. The offense can't function like that I don't care who you have at the skill positions. We all knew this line would have some struggles to start because of two rookies starting. But none of us saw Zack Martin getting thrown to the ground on the regular and Steele being a shell of himself coming. This can better and it needs to .. and soon. Whatever they are working on in practice is not working so they need to change it up. I thought Solari could fix it and I thought McCarthy "got it" when it came to running the ball at least in the red zone. I was wrong on both counts. At least I have been so far.
After 2023, and observing that Solari scheme, i never grew confident that " Sorry " Solari could fix that run game, and it rolled over to the problems that exist in 2024 with two rookie OL guys and a declining future HOF with bad back -and a post ACL vet who clearly is on the decline himself.
The OL unit has it's physical performance issues but Solari incompetence certainly compounds the problems.
The front office further adds to the issues with the failure to upgrade the RB position. slow lumbering Zeke Elliott ? ... A Dalvin Cook that they rather have on a practice squad rather than on active roster ? .. if not for the mysterious illness supposedly with Rico, Dalvin would still be on PS.
Yes the Derrick Henry debacle was an utter failure of a signing by the FO, still looms big, although with this super sorry McCarthy offense and Solari scheme. i don't see how Henry would have helped us .. the coaching system is still bad .
But don't think i'd like Henry for the next HC to come here in 2025 ( Ben Johnson ?)
