Up until now I have steered clear of the Roy Williams debate...

I'll have to watch the play again, I'm sure it will be on replay after replay. Didn't see anyone he clipped feet with, but it might have occurred just before he seemed to go down.

He doesn't want to get hurt. That's exactly the way he plays! When a player loses his heart for the game and is just collecting a paycheck this is the kind of performance you get.
Right on the money. he cant tackle or cover. which means he cant play.

a quandry, say we do get rid of him and put a guy pack there that can play the pass like an animal. Then, teams run the ball down our throats, what then? Roy is a good to great overall player, the coaches believe he can play one on one with extremely huge and very athletic TEs in the league and people want a miracle. I just don't see the argument against him, there is next to no chance we could sign someone better as a whole.

Considering that Roy hasn't been a force on the run this year... no...

I don't care about coach speak... I have two eyes... he is lost most every play...

This isn't the player we drafted. I don't know what happened to him, but he isn't around any more...

For the past few years I have given him the benefit of the doubt, but I watched him run around the field tonight not knowing if he was coming or going... it was embarrassing...

Barring an amazing offseason, Roy is probably finished. He just does nothing out there. It's not that he's awful - he just doesn't make plays anymore.

Hope he turns things around.

This is accurate.

Roy is just a body. I would compare to him Marcus Spears, but Spears at least occupies blockers.

Do you honestly think we could do better though?
thats the biggest issue, I don't think we could, and his play should be judged by every game not just one. He shows up more than he screws up. I really believe that, he has made some great stops this year, and has been playing with a new coach, I believe in him, and moreover believe he is better than average. That's enough for me, maybe my standards aren't high enough.

So what exactly did Roy do so wrong today? Seriously asking here.

I thought a lot of people wanted him to be like a good corner and never have his name called? I don't remember him allowing much? What's the problem?

Somehow on all the pass plays in the middle, the ball seems to go over Roy's head into a receiver hands who is covered by Reeves. Time after time. Seems he should be farther forward, or deeper back, or that QBs just know how to drop it in there on us.

Thank you... While Reeves does suck, I'm not sure if it is just him. Roy is the one dropping him off in the zone, so he has got to share some of the blame.

You don't here his name called much, because he is the one handing the player off to Reeves. Even on the last drive of the first half, when Reeves made the bone-headed play, who was there with him? Roy Williams, and they were playing zone. You need to get separation to drop a pass like that, especially considering it's the sideline....

I don't even know why this is an issue. At this point, anyone who supports Roy Williams is doing so out of nostalgic reasons and not any objective reasoning. The NFL's eliminating the horse collar tackle hurt his game. And as an Oklahoma Univ. alum, I saw Roy play in college and his coverage skills were awful then too. The truth is he made a lot of highlight plays and developed this legendary yet hyped status for making plays near the line of scrimmage. People would ignore when Roy would get burned in coverage because he was Roy Williams. That's the truth that no one wants to admit. When he finally got notoriety for his poor coverage skills when getting burned by Shockey on that TD play years ago, I wasn't suprised. It was only a matter of time because I saw him play at OU and I knew then that he was no Ed Reed or Sean Taylor in regards to coverage.

Seriously? Yes... with a late first or early second day pick...

You have to realize that teams gameplan against him. There are many teams in this league that have nobodies at SS that teams don't gameplan for...

I do beg to differ with you as he screws up more than he shows up these days...

I am not an alarmist, nor am I a knee-jerk fan... I have been following this team for 40 years and I am done with Roy... it's over... get rid of him...

Yes, I completely and utterly believe we could do better than Roy Williams. It's not even a question. Give me a kid in the draft and he will have better coverage skills and speed than Roy Williams to say the least. We can work on his tackling skills
