Update: Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry dies from accident-related injuries

On Espn.com, it's the lead story on both the home page and espn.com.

At this point, there's not a lot of info to be written. I imagine that there are columnists already writing up his life story and are just awaiting the outcome.

When I go to ESPN.com, the lead story is something two Sacramento Kings rookies.

He is known by sports fans....ok, I will give you ESPN.....but come one, he is a player in the NFL...was a starter opposite Ocho Cinco. There is no reason for this not to be the headline story on NFL.com at least for the moment. I mean his life is hanging in the balance. Plus, there isnt anything happening right now....no games, no firings, no real news other than this.

That's the thing. He's "that guy opposite of Chad." and that's what most people know him by outside of the controversy.


1. There are games. Kobe just hit a game winner. There's a big baseball trade in the making.

2. ESPN is covering an NBA game, while ESPN2 just finished covering it until further info is disclosed.


Im a little surprised there's not a "Breaking News" tab on NFL.com tho.

On the Yahoo front page i just read about it and it said he was in the hospital with life threatening injuries but didn't say he'd died.

That's the top story. The lead story is to the right. I imagine they're waiting for more definitive information and are trying to be sensitive.

Not to sound cold, but Chris Henry is not a superstar player. He was a player on the rise prior to his broken arm. His status in the league doesn't merit Top Story status. Sad as it is to say.

From what I have gathered he is on life support and they are waiting on his family to pull the plug. But details and info has been so sketchy, the local media outlets are all reporting it was a nasty situation and first hand reports say they are amazed he is even in this good of shape.

This is all speculation, details are all sketchy, take that with a grain of salt. All these conflicting reports are probably why most major media outlets are waiting for confirmation before they make ***** of themselves.

Watch that show "Truma, Life in the ER" on Discovery Health Channel sometime and you will find out what happens when you hit your head on the pavement. Even falling off a skateboard can lay you up for 6 months. If he is truly on life support, I would imagine they are tying to get the family to donate his organs, which should be in good shape barring any Hep infections from drug use...

I started watching that last year when I got out of the hospital. Facinating show. Apparently I was in ICU for near a week but only remember a few moments here and there.

How can you compare discussion of a private-life matter to discussion of an event involving a public figure? Are you really so shocked that there aren't a high number of threads where people pour their hearts out over lost loved ones?

Furthermore, what do you care? What does it matter to you if people want to talk about Chris Henry? What obligations were you fulfilling in telling us all that **** happens and chastising those who are discussing the topic?
