Very smart move if it works, especially if Dallas has reason to be upset with how the league handled the whole situation with letting them activate him and losing a player in the process. When they made that move, I think they were under the impression that he would be good to go for the rest of the season.

It's not really a conspiracy theory at all.

Remember when the Cowboys and Commanders got penalized for apparently violating cap rules in a year when there were no cap rules? It was Mara who pushed for the punishment and Goodell obliged. Don't you find it a bit odd that after the league has taken a hard stance on domestic punishment and sometimes overreacted for PR reasons, they just hand down a random one game suspension to Josh Brown?

I think you are naïve if you don't believe there are factions within the league office and even among owners that result in some favoritism being played at times.
Not only that...the lead investigator for Zeke's pre NFL - off the field issues is none other than a Giants season ticket holder. Coincidence? I think not.

I just don't buy it because Jerry would know about it and would not allow it to go on. I understand there are appearances for this line of thinking but Jerry doesn't strike me as someone who would roll over and take getting screwed by Mara time and time again. I'm sure owners lobby for things all the time but Mara doesn't have some secret hold on Goodall making him screw Dallas every chance the league can.

I agree I think the Mara stuff is a bit over blown, Giants have had their shared of suspended players and big fines this season. Mara is an owner with clout in the NFL and so is Jerry.

How long will this move really delay the hearing? I could see them giving his new representation a week or so, but no way it gets delayed until after the season is there?

Jerry rolled over for the league and Mara in the cap penalty. Likely he was given assurances in other areas, possibly guarantees for future SBs in Dallas, etc.

Jerry is smart. He knows when to play the game and when to muck it up. We saw him go after the league in the Elliott matter, which apparently might still be an open case. He picks his battles accordingly.

Did I miss Zeke's suspension.? If there was a conspiracy against Dallas, Zeke would have been punished by now, right?

This delay will probably cost Dallas in FA since Mara will complain again like he did back in 2010 with our contracts in an uncapped year. He probably telling Gooddell that Jerry outsmarted is again but I can't because I get caught ( walkie talkie incident, deflate balls, etc).

Quick look shows only two guys suspended this year. A FB who was on IR for drugs and the ridiculous one game ban on Josh Brown.

None of us know the real facts of that case. Snyder took a much bigger hit and also did nothing. You call it rolling over but we will never know all the true facts. I think Jerry let it go because it hurt the skins more and they probably did something Jerry knew he wasn't supposed to.

They can't suspend him for poops and giggles. They still have to build some sort of case. Why is it that it took actual authorities a few weeks to review the case and find no real evidence to press charges and yet the league office investigator, a Giants fan, still has an open case file on her desk MONTHS AND MONTHS later?

I really wish we could all just quit with this argument. Does anyone really think Jerry would allow a situation to exist where the owner of a division rival was pulling strings behind the scenes to screw the Cowboys and let the Giants skate on things? It's a ridiculous conspiracy theory that just doesn't hold water. Goodall and Mara would be facing jail time if they were conspiring to commit fraud and collusion against another team. It simply isn't happening.

you're right, while I do think Mara has Goodell's ear, I do not think Mara is the puppet master conspiring to destroy the Dallas Cowboys through the league office. However, that doesn't mean blaming Mara for everything isn't fun...#thanksmara

This is the best way to look at it. I don't think Goodell jumps and does exactly what Mara tells him to do.

But I have little doubt that Mara fills Goodell's ears with what he thinks is wrong and tries to undercut other owners.

Sure it could and the new agent could see to it. He can ask for a delay until after the playoffs are over and seek an injunction to get it. Gregory is facing a year long suspension and his rep has the right to prepare a strenuous defense, especially if they maintain the league has mishandled any part of the entire process. I think the team might have a good case to get an injunction based solely on the fact that they lost a player due to the way the league handled the case.

Why would his agent be representing him like a lawyer for an appeal? Seems like he'd have the NFLPA providing that.
