Update: Jackson, Commanders agree to terms

That's not a bad deal for Washington. They didn't mortgage their future as they'd normally do. If Griffin returns to 2012 form, those Skins are playoff bound.

Skins have some decent receiving options.

Garçon, Andre Roberts, DeSean, Moss

Throw in Jordan Reed.

Aldrick looked like a speedster a while back. I'd take a look if he gets cut.

I'd think Moss would get cut.

Moss is on is last legs. I will be surprised if he is ever a factor again. Garcon caught a lot of passes but the other receivers were so bad there weren't many options. I would have preferred Jackson leave the conference. It is a much bigger issue for the Eagles imo. I think it is a good signing for the Commanders. Although you never know with a guy switching teams and their are obviously red flags on his character.

Although if I put myself in a Commanders position, if the Cowboys had the Commanders receiver talent and we were without a first round pick, I would be excited if we signed Jackson. I would also think in time it will not end well, but you hope you can get out of his contract easily when it does go bad.

Overall, I think its a good deal for Wash. He can stretch the field and free up Garcon more.

Here are their receiving numbers from last season:

  • Garcon 113 for 1346
  • Jordan Read 45 for 499
  • Santana Moss 42 for 452

I think its safe to say that its a serious upgrade at the position and at a decent price.

That said, I really would like to know why Kelly didn't keep him (seems a perfect fit for what Kelly likes to do) and why none of his former coaches (Reid, Tedford or Monrningwheg) made a serious effort to go after him.

While frustrated that a division rival pick up a known "talent". I still go back to why he was released in the first place??? Was a strictly a salary dump? For a team with 20+ million available that doesnt makes sense. Those red flags are they legit?? There is something here and it will play out. Buyer beware!!! Today though I guess the Commanders improved, tomorrow maybe he is in jail....Go Cowboys!!!

The team we barely beat even when they're terrible and we're good just got a nice offensive weapon. Try to poo poo it all you want, we're in trouble right now in the division.

Yeah, we were terrible too and we beat them twice.

I think the Eagles were frustrated with him. Put aside the fact that he has some known off the field associates that are linked to gangs. He got kicked out of practice according to their media a few times, he openly fought with the WR coach (including one massive blow up on TV against Minnesota), constantly was late for meetings, rubbed some teammates the wrong way, admitted that a few years ago before he got his new deal, he basically took that season off because he wasn't getting paid like he wanted............... then add in the fact he kind of hinted he wanted a new deal at the end of the 2013 season and I think they were just tired of dealing with him.

What I found somewhat funny was that after he got cut, the support from teammates on Philly seemed blah. No one seemed to come out and say what a huge mistake they made.

3 years, 24 Mil with 16 Guaranteed. In terms of Synder money he basically stole DJax in his prime for mere pennies, lol. It's a fantastic move for the Skins featuring Garcon, Morris, and upcoming TE Reed. He has to remain on roster for the entire 3 years to receive the full guarantee, so Jackson will be on his best behavior. Moving on............

Desean Jackson = Outstanding playmaker who disappears in big games

Pierre Garcon = Good receiver who will go down with an injury at some point

For all the doom and gloom people need to remember that both guys have major issues, imo the Cowboys still have the best receiving core but the problem is the coaching staff putting them in the best position. Dez, Terrence, Beasley & Harris(who seems to make plays whenever he's on the field) are a much better group than any team in the NFC East. The real X-Factor to me is Alfred Morris because if he has a great year that opens up everything for RG3, i think Chip's offense made Jackson a better player whereas now he has a rookie head coach who had AJ green and still couldn't get the O going in Cincy.

If anything else, DJax will ensure that secondaries don't cheat to Garcon's side. We'll have to play this offense straight up and HOPE our CBs keep their assignments, lol.

I saw that Hatcher was sending tweets to Jackson imploring him to sign with the Skins and using the HTTR hashtag.

All of this is fact--Desean Jackson is a collossal prick--but he is a phenomenal football player. And, not to start any kind of flame war--but as a point of comparison, Michael Irvin was a degenerate human being in is playing days. I really don't care what he does off the field so long as he produces on it.

Keeping him in line will be difficult, and disciplining him if/when he shows up late for meetings, etc. is going to be interesting. However, I think Deangelo Hall helps here. All of the above applies to Hall prior to the last couple of years. By all accounts, he has been a very good teammate--to the point he was one of three key FA resigns this off-season.

love to see the overspending on WRs. Washington wont be any better than last year. Book it.
