It's not so black and white. RG3 can obviously throw the ball too. He's not Tim Tebow. If desean can get open consistently then they got a shot. Who knows? IMO it won't make much of a difference. Jackson won't put the Commanders over the top. And RG3 can't win it by himself, he's pretty average qb overall. Much like romo, RG3 needs a lot of help around him to be successful. I don't see a lot of talent on that roster. I can understand they're thought process behind signing DJAX, they want to give RG3 a weapon in the passing game, I just don't think it will work out for them.

The success or failure is more dependent upon the performance defensively and on the offensive line.

Because all these teams have QB's on the rookie scale, such as SFran, Seattle, and Wash.

Yeah, didn't think about this but if you hit on a qb out the draft it really helps you build the rest of your team.

Interesting last paragraph.

However, some tough roster decisions may still lie ahead for Washington. The Commanders now have over $117 million in 2015 cap commitments, which of course doesn’t include a salary for Brian Orakpo, who was recently franchised and has not yet been signed to a long-term deal. RG3 should also be in line for a monstrous extension at some point in the near future (he’s eligible after this coming season). This is definitely a situation to pay close attention to in the future…

Ahhhhh finally someone said it, the "Awesome, now we can finally bust on Skins fans for winning the offseason because Jerry had 0 cap money......I mean.....because Jerry didn't make a usual FA splash (or attempt) this offseason" type of posts. Come on......we signed the guy for $8 mill a year who 90% of YOUR fanbase would approve if Dallas was able to grab him for $8 mill. Jerry would have been all over this stop trying to act like Dallas is a Patriot/Seahawk/49ers/Ravens ran organization you sound ridiculous.

See I can at least take posts like yours. Pretty reasonable perception of the Commanders but no talent on the offense? Garcon, Reed, Morris? DJax? Come on? From a Commanders fan I think it's quite clear the Cowboys have talent. Dez, Witten, Murray? And I even argue with friends that Dez is Top 5 WR material (Djax is not even a discussion in the Top5....maybe top 12). The rest of your post is spot on. RG3 is a question mark, the thought process is there, and your 100% right.....Desean MIGHT turn out to be a real ***hole. And finally our performance on D and OLine is a very big factor this year you are spot on with that.

Jackson can still hang with his "homies" in philly now...I am convinced that his reasons for Washington are the following:

1a) Gets to play against Philly twice per year
1b) Gets to hang with his thug-family and continue his "gang" ties
3) Money

not worried about him or Washington

You sound crazy... The guy doesn't have gang ties SMH

I understand, when you finish 3-13 you look for comfort anyway you can get it. They will need to score points since I predict the defense to fair about the same.

Does Romo need a lot of help around him or a good defense ala Eli? Romos problems arent his stats, they are a defense and an organization.

I get the 3-13 comment, pretty decent, nothing spectacular maybe a B-,B. Wait a second? Are you aware the Cowboys defense was MUCH worse than the Commanders? Passing, rushing and overall? I mean it sucks we lost our key components of anything relevant on the defense.....oh wait we didn't lose anyone, that was you guys who lost Hatcher and Ware. Come on man......lets have some intelligent football talk. I'm here because I feel the NFC East is tight this year on paper. Maybe we fall off, maybe we don't. We look good on paper, always have, but our contracts/building in the last 5 years (minus egotistical Mike Shanny) has been superb under Bruce.

Ware was not that big of a loss, i was geting tired of watching him run past qbs. Hatcher had one good year. We didnt lose that much. You want intelligent football converasation, we ll oblige but bring some intelligence as well.

You are right in your post, who knows, but everything else is talk, you want to prop up the Skins, i hope Dallas does better, other than that, lets find common ground.

I'm with ya.....so quote me. You guys are Cowboys fans, we are Commanders fans....we love our teams. We have homerism. But just quote my posts on what you disagree with and lets have a nice, healthy, fun, football debate. I don't come around often....just usually when something between either team is going down.

First of all both defense were bad, so being proud of the fact you lost no key components is nothing to brag about, second we recognize we had a bad defense and made a nessary change. Your team choose to keep the guy in charge and blame the bad deafens on Shanny??? ( I don't get that). Second you are here because your team signed a good player, and as I said earlier you are feeling happy.

Ahhh OK now are talking here. Great points, but I also recognize that our defense was bad and you got me on Haslett. I think most Commanders fans would tell you they were not very happy when the news hit that we were keeping Haz. Our defense is a huge question mark we know.....I've stated that on multiple posts in here above. And to take it 1 step further, our special teams was the biggest piece of garbage ever fielded on a football team so let's hope that changes as well. DJax won't be returning anything for us so I hope we can find some blocking and a playmaker. You are right though, I'm here because I am happy and he is a good player. But I'm also here because we are men and men love football as well as there teams. I talk and spend some time on here because we are healthy rivals lets keep it going. Football will be here before we know it.

that was the one thing dallas did okay in was ST. Both our defenses blew chunks and both our offenses were porous to say the least. okay you signed Desean, but that doesnt make your defense better. We signed Melton, that made our defense a tad bit less sucky, am i going to gloat on that alone, heck no.

heres we can we defintely agree on. Will either of our teams get out of the proverbial buckets that they are trying to lift themselves up by. Im not going to say Dallas gets a free pass either because as many will mention, our defense cant get worse so we must improve, wrong, this division isnt going to lie down for Dallas like it did last year. I am still impressed with this division and i contend that this division beats itself up more than other divisions.

The thing that will really seperate Dallas from the Commanders is the coaching. we know what we have in Garrett, but what does Jay Gruden bring as a head coach. That is going to leave everyone pondering.

Alright alright......very nicely done. I think it's impressive that Gruden got 33tds from Andy Dalton so I'm excited to see what he brings to the table. But of course that is a huge question mark and we have to play devils advocate. We really don't know what Jay is going to bring and it is scary to think about. Everyone relates him to immediate success because of his father and I think that's why we keep hearing "Jay will have this offense on fire". Jay has got to prove he is an pretty decent offensive guy. We improved with alot of ILB help, Hatcher, Ryan Clark (not huge on this signing). We added Tracy Porter to play in the slot because frankly Josh Wilson got torched last year. I doubt Tracy Porter will be anything great along with Ryan Clark but we are improving our D or at least trying to. Definitely adding alot of this help for the sake of ST's as well. I agree with the division aspect, the NFC East is just very exciting when teams play each other compared to other divisions. It's always a close match between everyone unless the Commanders are playing Mike Vick (and we get torched). I think this year will be one of the most competitive between us and possibly a race between all 3 or 4 teams? Never would have guessed 3-13 for us last year.....but I guess my hope is similar to Dallas Defense.....HOPEFULLY we can't finish any worse....
