Update: Jackson, Commanders agree to terms

They overpaid in draft picks for somebody I can think of

Possibly....but let me know how that has fared for the Rams? They are lighting it up huh? Back to square 1 for the Rams....No QB. RG3 will have this year (3rd) to prove himself.

Here's what everyone forgets. Instead of looking at the individual talent, look at the preference for how each wants to be coached. RG 3 wants to be in a pistol, zone read offense. That requires big receivers on the outside to help block.

Alfred Morris wants to be in a one-cut feature the back offense.

DeSean wants NO part of blocking. He is best in Chip Kelly's offense that spreads the ball all over the field.

RG 3 and DeSean may be great talents but they are NO GOOD for each other.

However, if Kirk Cousins was QB, then I'd be afraid. He's a pocket QB who uses the weapons around him. RG 3 thinks he is the only weapon needed.

Hatcher? Have you ever looked at his contract? This is why some of you can't even be taken seriously anymore. Hatcher is making like $7 million in his first 2 years and could be cut with $0 dead money. Do you understand how contracts work, dead money, guaranteed money, ect? Hatcher's contract is basically 2 yr $7-8 million.

Over 30, average in a 3-4, best season was in a contract year. We'll see.

Honestly....Extremeskins is terrible sometimes....but this is comical. How do you write garbage like this and actually believe it. Mind=blown.

That's not true--this was supposedly one of the rifts with the Shanahans--Griffin did not want to run as much pistol, especially after he got hurt. He knows the key to winning in this league as a QB is passing from the pocket.

Alfred Morris wants to be in a one-cut feature the back offense.

Have you seen him say anything like this? I haven't. Plus, Gruden has said he will vary his offense, running both power-blocking concepts and zone-blocking concepts.

DeSean wants NO part of blocking. He is best in Chip Kelly's offense that spreads the ball all over the field.

Desean does not want to block--however, I just watched a break down of similar elements between Jay Gruden's and Chip Kelly's offenses. After all, Gruden got very marginally talented Dalton to throw 33 tds.

RG 3 and DeSean may be great talents but they are NO GOOD for each other.

Blatantly false, Griffin was one of the Jackson's major recruiters, and he ran a passing camp in AZ that included just about every WR on the Commanders roster (and Michael Irvin). And as for Cousins, let's compare here:

Griffin's career numbers: 28 games, 539/849 62.7% 6403 yards 36 TDs 17 INTs
Cousins' career numbers: 8 games, 114/203 56.2% 1310 yards 8 TDs 10 INTs.

I'd just as soon him go to the AFC like hmmmm.....the Bills.

If he does go to Washington then they need to put Carr on him at the LOS directing him inside and box him with the LB and a S over the top. If he gets frustrated by Carr's physical play then you can perhaps relax some although if you direct him inside they will throw the slant to him which is still problematic. We don't have anyone who can cover him st8 up unless Claiborne comes of age. Beating on Jackson brings out the crybaby and quitter in him. He still warrants resources and game planning.

Carr's physical play? He was absolutely horrible last year.

Pretty much agree....they'll score on offense and be formidable but will the china dolls (RG3 and DJ hold up?) I kind of doubt it. I'd also be more concerned if the Rat was still in town. Gruden? Meh....not that concerned because their defense SUCKS. The key stat: 16 MILLION guaranteed to DJ. Lil' Dan needs to stop huffing glue.

DeSean Jackson’s contract is a 4-year, $32M deal that voids to 3 years, $24M. $5M signing bonus. $8M avg per year. $4.25M ’14 cap number.

Not sure that is the path to Cap Purgatory.

Not this year, though it does eat up all the Commanders remaining cap space. The issue is how long he lasts, if he unhappy or isn't contributing next year he is going to be completely overpaid at a 10MM charge against the cap in 2015.

I am not worried at all. Jackson's #'s last year were inflated by Chip Kelly's offense. He averaged under 1000 yards in his 1st 5 seasons with Reid.

You don't have to like the Commanders (I don't)

You don't have to like DeSean Jackson(would have loved to get him Dallas, esepcially after seeing the numbers on the contract)

But let's not act like Garcon, Jordan Reid, Jackson, RG3, and Alfred Morris will not be formidable. Spread you out and run it at 5 yards a pop, play action over the top....Garcon getting man coverage all day.....Reid working the seams.

To handicap all of these options with the potential of injury...well that is the case for any team. But if we had added DeSean Jackson, to Dez, Witten, Murray, and Romo...Cowboy Nation would be salivating at the potential. So let's not lose our football common sense just because he signed with the Commanders.

Perhaps facts may help Cowboys fans out alittle bit so I will provide them. I'm guessing this list is false right and DJax's $16mill guaranteed is "huffing glue". Let us know how that Dallas defense was last year? Let us know what you have done so super awesome to improve that D this year. Commanders are not even close to being an 'elite' team but my god you guys act like the Cowboys have won a playoff game in the last 15 years.

Sure, if a 28 year old 3 time probowler who will receive 8Million (base + roster bonus+workout bonus) doesn't work out in the 2nd year of a new contract, then we take a dead cap of 11.75Mil. However, if he is good for 2 years, 2014 & 15, then his dead money drops to 2.5 million in 2016. He still can earn 8 million the 3rd year with Base, Roster and Workout bonuses. Seems very well structured to protect us with the only possible lump being if he is just miserable this year and we want out next year. We will see, but this definitely isn't a Vinnie Cerrato/Dan Snyder panic deal.

for those that want to see an unbiased analysis, overthecap.com laid it out real well both positives and negatives:

Carr's physical play? He was absolutely horrible last year.

I don't know how horrible he was because we left them hanging with the relative lack of pressure. I've stated several times I'm not a big Carr fan but he does have one game and that is physical play. Zone is not his best asset and he's slow to boot. But he can play pressure fairly well. We don't have anyone else who does that as well.

Yea I picked Desean late last year as I did RGIII. I hope I can sneak and get both of them late again this year. I have a feeling they are not going to be get you points every week type good but the potential to get points will be crazy.

Oh wow. Really props to the Deadskins then because I thought he was going to get a 60 million dollar deal from them. That's a very favorable deal.

You're right. I'm hoping the Cowboys are better than we actually think they are going to be.

We have. Won in 2009, smart guy.

Same thing every freaking year from Foreskins fans. Come out of the woodwork during the off-season and then fade away once they realize their team wont live up to the self-imposed hype.
