A 1st and a 3rd? What a joke.

Maybe Jones and a 3rd. But I still wouldn't do that; we have Jones, and Barber - why would we trade away a 1st + a 3rd? That would be one of the dumbest moves as of recently.

Jones is in the last year of his contract. He is not worth the big money being thrown around. Travis Henry got a huge deal with Denver.Thomas Jones got a big contract with the Jets. Move Jones now,get Turner who will not be able to command the Bucks that Jones will command.

Hell, I would have to think about giving up a 1st and 3rd for LT. Probably not for very long, but still :D

bring this ridiculous beast in! offer them julius jones and a pick or something because they dont even have a backup RB..i dont care. just bring him in. :star:

Julius Jones and next year's second (from Cowboys)

for Michael Turner and this year's fifth round draft choice (from Chargers)

^This right here would be a fair deal.

Turner has shown less then MB3 has. And they want a first and third?
After what McGahee and other RBs have gone for over the last couple of years, they must KNOW that no one is that stupid- not even the skins or Matt Millen. Sources said. Sure. Which janitor said this?

no 1 posted this but phillips 1st hand experience on what this guy can do...so that being said if he comes in for a 3rd great but for a 1st round pick id rather stick with julius... im a big julius fan and think he can still become an elite RB

also if Turner can get a 1st and a 3rd what can MB3 get 3 1sts?

Im not really wanting to ditch on Julius. The only neg I see with him is his contract status. Not sure he would want to play halfsies for another contract. That being the case, I would be open to a trade but sure as hell not this one.

Good point. If Dallas deals for Turner, it would've been on Wade's recommendation

That being said, he could recommend all he wants...A first and a third for a backup player is ********. I'd trade a second, at most, for Turner--and only if we could trade Julius for a third

Voice of reason right there.

And it pains me to say that about you.

What some have seemingly missed out on, is if Turner is traded to another team, he would have to agree to terms on an extension with the new team. Otherwise why trade for a guy who's going to be an UFA next year. Same situation as Julius. Turner is going to want big dollars, either this year or next year.

So how do you justify giving big dollars to a guy who's been a backup to this point in his career and has done less than your current starter and backup? It's the kinda risk you take if you're trading for a QB and you're the Texans.

One of the major reasons many want to trade JJ is because this is his last year on his rookie contract. Turner is the same way; so what point is getting a guy who has only been a backup? Big bucks are going to have to be paid one way or another- so what is the point?

Excellent points WG, I for one had not even thought of that problem. Heck they may as well try and trade up to get Marshawn Lynch, if they want a RB that bad.

At least he would have to come in under a rookie contract.

Trade a #1 draft pick for a backup, playing behind the best running back in the league? Sounds like utter BS.

Its a bit of a stretch, since by then Emmitt was no longer the best back in the league- but around 2001 or so the same thing could have been said about Hambone.

Hambrick that year was 113-579 5.1 YPC 2 TDs 4 receptions - 62 yards for 15.5 YPC

Turner last year was 80-502 6.3 YPC - 2 TD, 3 receptions - 47 yards for 15.7 YPC.

Aside from the YPC, they look pretty similar -- and if you recognize that many of Turner's stats look eye-popping because he had one huge game, including a 73 yard run in a blowout against Tennessee where the Chargers had the ball for almost 40 minutes and Turner picked up over 100 yards in the 4th quarter, then you start to see that he's got some massive garbage time stats.

Over 25% of Turner's yards came in that ONE game. You put ANY running back in that situation and he's going to look like freaking Gale Sayers.
