Well, not a smart move, but the good thing about having an owner who is not quite stable is he can change on a dime.

and eggshells are stupid. every coach in the nfl is one bad year away from being fired. just ask shanahan or holmgren.

What if he wins a wild card game and is embarrased again in the Division game?

Will Jerry eat two years of contract for that performance even though to me that shows there was no real progress?

I don't think so.

As for the rest of it, this is Jerry's team. No coach or player has any illusions about lame ducks or the rest, Jerry hires and fires the coaches, not Wade.

You're not playing the game right. When I ask a silly question I should get a silly answer, not the truth.

Beating Philadelphia in the Wildcard game will turn out to be the costliest win in team history.

GAC is saying that's a mistake according to other Dallas officials. Maybe they posted it too early ?

I was never any good at what if games. I have no imagination for it at all.

Isn't the answer to every what if really "I don't know and neither do you?"

I think Wade who has been in this business for 40 years understands how things work. I don't think being put on egg shells changed Phillips one bit. As his dad once said if you are in this business long enough you will know about getting hired and getting fired sooner or later you will experience both.

I am sure GAC would know over DC.com.

I'll put my comments here, I am a Wade supporter and thus support this move, but now if this franchise will win a Super Bowl with this talent, more than likely it will come on Wades' hands. I support him and believe he can do it as early as next year.

What happens with Garrett though?

good move, now i dont have to worry about garrett being coach...at least not for a while.

I used his name as an example of a coordinator with no track record who had a good season, and has his team playing above their talent level.

I really don't want to get into the spin game over this coach or that one, its been rehashed all season. Suffice to say I am not a fan of Wade's coaching style, I don't like his in game HC decisions, and I find it troubling that we didn't have any success, even defensively, until Jerry took away his ability to delegate work to Brian Stewart.

By every report he is not a every little detail kind of coach, and when I look at the guys who have had major success in the NFL, I see a lot more control freaks than the opposite.

I think there are better coaches out there who are head coach material, not a DC who doesn't have any idea or input into what his offense is doing, and leave it at that.

The defense got better when Mike Jenkins and Anthony Spencer did.
Also when we added Gerald Sensabaugh.

Did Wade have a bit better feel for when to call a certain defense than Stewart? Yea, he did, but Wade always will have because he has 20 years experience on the kid. Who called Landry's offenses?

Another Wade critic who has no clue about what Wade really does.... How do you know how he addresses anything? How many practices have you sat through? How many team meetings?

Wade has stated plenty of times he meets with Jason to go over game plans weekly. He doesn't interfere during games but he does go over what the game plan is in advance of being put in for the week.

A lot of folks don't like Wade's style and that's fine but it is his "style" in press conferences because they are clueless as to his style in a meeting room or on the practice field.

Those close ups during the Minny game were of him dropping f-bombs not saying golly gee. But he has enough class to not take that to the masses in a press conference. He also screamed at Campo a few times this year because guys were out of place but again he isn't gonna bring that to a press conference.

Wade was clear day 1 he wasn't going to scape goat anyone and that he'd treat these guys as family. At the same time he has overseen a fair amount of turnover so they aren't just getting lifetime passes.

End of the day the best asset any team can have is good young players and this defense is loaded there. Ware/Spencer/Jenkins/Scandrick/Sensabaugh/Ratliff is a heck of a defensive nucleus and we have 4 young defenders returning from the past draft class.

The offense is obviously going to get some draft help this year and let's hope we have improved scouting along the OL.

We've won the 4th most games in the NFL since we hired Wade. We took the first step in making that count in the post-season. This is a team headed in the right direction.

Which makes you a Wade fan with absolutely no clue what he does, no?

if that happens he will have doubled the playoff win total of the previous 14 years....

when we are complaining about ONLY winning one playoff game that's what i call progress.

I wasn't the biggest Wade supporter over the past two years - esp after the 44-6 loss a year ago - but I think Wade has earned this contract.

He could have easily caved in to the pressure months ago, but he didn't. He kept the team focused.

His winning percentage is outstanding during the regular season. And I think with the recent playoff win, he got the team over the first and most difficult hump.

The asst coaches and players know Wade isn't a lame duck coach, and players are keen to play for him. (Both should also be a bonus when retaining players and luring FAs.)

I expect bigger and better things from this team next season. And I have to say, I'm really excited to see our Defense continue to progress and excel in 2010.

i am not a big wade fan. i am honest in that i see issues i think exist but do not know.

and i stated he had to win a playoff game for me to back him wholly.

well he did win a playoff game, he did win in december, he did beat the hated eagles 3 times.

if you can't support that good luck to you.

bottom line is: best season in 13 years.

When the Colts and Steelers lost their head coaches (Dungy and Cowher) they didn't skip a beat. Wouldn't this suggest head coaches don't matter much?

And if this is the case Wade is a great D coordinator. If we get a new OC and draft some offensive linemen we will be fine. I've never been enamored with Garrett, so if we can replace him I expect big things out of both sides of the ball next year.

Good for Wade, but I don't think owing Wade another 2 years on a contract is going to mean jacksquat if the team under performs next year and Jerry feels the heat to make a change.
