Good for Wade, but I don't think owing Wade another 2 years on a contract is going to mean jacksquat if the team under performs next year and Jerry feels the heat to make a change.

no doubt.

those years are basically a christmas bonus.

doesn't mean you wont be first next year.

Which makes you a Wade fan with absolutely no clue what he does, no?

What we do know we know from what players have said which is he does not run a cup cake team. We know he had more 2 a days this past summer than in any season BP was with us. Wade is going to do things his way and has never been one to throw players under the bus or make a spectacle of himself in front of the media. Others may choose to conduct themselves a different way

i am not a big wade fan. i am honest in that i see issues i think exist but do not know.

Fine, I see issues and read a lot about football. People have said going back to his time in Denver he is not your typical work-a-holic type A coach, that he doesn't always like to deal with every detail. He certainly has well documented accountability issues with players.

After the Denver game someone asked him why Barber wasn't on the field for the critical goal line plays at the end. He responded "He wasn't?"

I'd prefer a HC with some semblance of awareness what's going on on the field, even if its not the unit he coaches.

if you can't support that good luck to you.

bottom line is: best season in 13 years.

I support the Cowboys, not individual players or coaches.

If I see that Marion Barber is not running well, or Roy Williams can't catch or hear he isn't practicing well, I'm going to say something. If I think the Coach is a run of the mill guy with a lot of talent under him, I will as well. Doesn't make me root more or less for any of them.

That best season in 13 years followed two of the most disappointing ends of seasons I can remember. After the SD loss this year most had given up this team for dead and Phillips was as good as gone, yet suddenly 5 weeks later we are giving him a 3 year extension.

Sorry, just not as sold as you that Wade is a great coach because he had a nice run for 5 weeks, particularly since that again ended in an embarrassing loss.

I think even Andy Reid admitted that the Cowboys were a very physical team. (Wish we were a bit more physical on the OL vs. Minn, but that's a different discussion. )

The way our Defense has been playing the last couple of months, I don't think anyone can say we're "soft". And we should only get better with guys like V Butler, B Williams, J Williams, etc. developing.

Wow. They have taken the story down now.

Jerry read this board and changed his mind about Wade.

After that SD loss did anyone who actually matters give up on the season?

You didn't hear anything remotely close to that coming from inside the Cowboy's locker room.

I agree. I'm upset that we lost and lost badly. Minn went out there and took it to our guys. The organization could dismantle this team and start a new or it could take a few moments and see allot of positives from this season that we can build on and stay the course. Thankfully it is the latter.

As for those who want Wade gone many of them did not want Wade to start with so why expect that to change now.

You mean like when Parcells claimed he didn't know Adrian Murrell was in the game when we were running out the clock against the Bills?

Nice.

Can't believe there will be people *****ing in this thread though.

Who else out there would be a better option?

Well, that's unfortunately the point. Cowher is overrated. Jon Gruden could work here but it would be a complete change in offensive philosophy and coaches.

Me personally? I would have called the option and made Wade coach through a lame duck year. I need to see more. But it's not my money. :)

Maybe Jerry realized that one year of guaranteed money is preferable to three.

I probably shouldn't bring up Minn in this thread, but if we had a FG kicker and Flo didn't get injured, I think the game would have been a lot closer - not saying we would have won - and some of this hand wringing would stop.

We really aren't that far away, IMO, from being a legit Super Bowl contender. Good grief, we're taking about upgrading 1-2 OL and getting a FG kicker for the most part.

It may have been closer that is something we will never know because it didn't happen. I make no excuses for the way we played, we got our butts kicked

I do agree this team in moving in the right direction and hopefully this team will be able to take this bad feeling and learn from it.

As for upgrading that is why we hold a draft and have FA so hopefully we can add more talent to this team to get to the next level.

ESPN and the DMN are both reporting that they are working on an extension beyond the 2010 season. Both stories have quotes from Jethro.

Good for Wade and the Cowboys. The organization needs some stability, Wade has proven capable of getting past the first step. I can't get the thought out of my mind of how well our defense played really since week 3. With only 2 players over 30 and guys like Jenkins and Spencer coming into their own I like the fact that Wade is coaching them. I'm man enough to admit I was wrong about Wade.
