Guy might be worth developing. That being said I want our future QB to come in the first round.

Well, that does not guarantee anything by being a 1st rounder. Ryan Leaf come to mind?

Never heard of them...and what if Vaughn would have been picked up by another team? Vaughn at least has experience with the offense already...whoever those others are don't.

Wenning and Gilbert were considered draftable prospects. Vaughan was always borderline.

And like I said, if you like the player, great. Keep him on the practice squad, I do not think he would have been gobbled up if exposed to waivers.

I understand how the Matt Moore thing still stings, but Moore played a lot better and we tried to get cute.

There is not a lot of quality tape on Vaughan. He did not exactly shine against the Broncos.

Well, my stance is that if Romo was 100% healthy, and we really don't know, you need 3 QB's until you are sure Romo can go a full season. My other question would be, will all three be active on game day? That might be foolish, but I would still keep Vaughn on the roster.

The Cowboys aren't done making moves. There are guys on the 53 (Including Vaughan and tackle John Wetzel) that could get cut once they find somebody else on the waiver wire. If I was Vaughan, I'd still be bracing for a release and possible practice squad invite.

And you may very well be right. But if this stands, I question the move that's all.

If you carry a QB on the practice squad, it is basically like being part of the team. Romo goes down, he's elevated.

Just exactly who did shine in the Denver game?

As to merit, he was rising strongly towards the draft, and despite being from a Div II school, he played well for a full four years there.

Keeping Vaughan is saying something about Weeden as well as Vaughan

Keeping Clutts in favor of Ryan Williams, LaRon Byrd and Jamar Newsome is certainly questionable. Keeping Dustin Vaughan though was not, in my opinion. From my viewpoint he was the best rookie QB the Cowboys have picked up since Tony Romo. Granted, he will need developing, but I think he was absolutely worthy of keeping; especially given the worse case scenario with Romo's health.

Also, how can you not root for this kid after seeing this video?

I've been pulling for him ever since seeing this. Love the sense of humor.

I'm definitely not a grammar cop, but just like Witten, Vaughan is the correct spelling. Just trying to help out...misspelling would linger for months probably.

Nothing is guaranteed, yes but your odds improve immensely. I could be wrong and Vaughan becomes an excellent starter. That said I like quite a few college QBs that are coming out in the next draft or two.

Well, if the "realists" get there way about how they think the Cowboy record will be, you just might get that 1st rounder! lol
