Another year of people getting excited over a skill player that will get, maybe, 10 touches a game during his best week.

Sproles ran around 4,5. Deuce is 4.56. Deuce beat Sproles in the vert jump and also beat Sproles by over a foot in the broad jump!! Sounds similar and maybe quicker in space than Sproles!!
He won't be as good as Sproles. The most we can hope for is that he'll be Jaquizz Rodgers level.

No one knows how good or bad he will be. Only time will tell. Im sure Sproles had his detractors . He exceeded those expectations. Deuce easily could too

Sproles was a special talent that didn't get into the best system until 7 years into his career. If a young Sproles was in the league today he'd be on prime Kamara's level. Thinking Vaughn will reach this level is a surefire way to be disappointed.

I'm confident he won't be on Sproles level.

Get him to the second level and this guy may be a great weapon. What an exciting player.

Vaughn might be gone! All the way to the endzone.

Practically the very same thang' we persistently already say about Pollard .... instant TD home run.

Maybe, to start with, but at least he's going to have more chance than when KM was here. I suppose this is why the organization wanted a blocking TE and drafted a FB, to assist.
Agree with more chances without Kellen now ... but that FB did we draft ?

Semantics. My fault.

I just meant he is a guy who isn’t going to play like every other series, or be counted on as RB2, it’ll be more like specific plays mixed in here and there, and there will be plays that are used for him only.

I meant nothing negative at all. If anything I was trying to point out that he ought to help. If nothing else it’s a dynamic this offense didn’t have beforehand.

I applauded the pick when it happened.
Then what was Pollard ? .. a total scrub ?

I think you just say gadget player because you see that he is small.

His game is anything but a gadget player.

And he is a stud. He scored 40 something TDs in 3 years and he did it with hard nose between the tackles running against top competition in college.

His only weakness is his height. So if it turns out that his height was never a weakness then what?

I’ll tell you what that means.. If his height isn’t a weakness then you just stole a absolute monster RB in round 6.

The NFL is betting against his height and that’s why we got him where we did.
What happened to the old negative @CATCH17 ? Did someone kidnap him? I don't recognize this new CATCH17, but I sure do like him!

Im not as confident as you. I see Tyron and Steele as getting one good tackle out of those two. I dont see Tyron being healthy for long.

I see those two at RT, Martin, Biadasz, Chung?, Tyler

I just dont see that as a good line.
Tyron, Tyler, Biadaz, Martin and hopefully Steele. Or Tyron in Steeles spot. Until Tyron is injured.

I want to love the pick too, and it is only a 6th, but when he runs you can see how his top speed is limited by the length of his legs. I just do not think he will be fast enough in the NFL to run away from everyone. His strength is his elusiveness. Maybe they work on his running mechanics to get him a little more speed. Then he might be something.
Good point, @Creeper ! Maybe the Cowboys can pay for Deuce, Pollard, Malik and any other RBs to get some speed increase training right now with old track star Michael Johnson before training camp starts in 2+ months?

For one thing, Sproles was a very effective prolific punt returner.in the NFL.. from what I've read Vaughn does not have punt return experience, so i don't see early effectiveness or duties in
from him in that area.

Depending upon preseason play - I could see him replacing Malik Davis or injury prone Rico Dwondle as an alternative kick off returner- to help out Turpin.

If Tyron is healthy and if Steele is healthy. See the problem. Even 100% healthy steele was a good RT, not great. When Gallup came back from a knee injury how did he look?

I’m realistic.

I can’t do the whole delusional dance like so many on here.

Deuce Vaughn in the 6th round is a awesome risk / reward.

If his height ends up not mattering, like it didn’t in college, then you stole a special player.

If Kellen were still here , i'd say forget it. Becuz Kellen either hated, highly impatient or annoyed by RB screens, .or he did not have a clue how to work and develop RB screens.

If a RB pass play did work, (ala Pollard's wheel route TD vs Vikes) ..Kellen would just stop it, ..if a jet sweep worked, again he'd throw it in back trunk.
And he just wasn't scheme creative with designing RBs into the pass game.
And there was already skepticism with the design of the run game as well.

- I'd like to vastly believe that under new management - McCarthy, Schottenhemeir, and new OL coach Solaris that we will significantly upgrade both the run game scheme design
as well as RBs in the pass game.

- A ton more misdirection that will play into emphasis on getting these explosive RBs into holes quickly - and quickly into the second level of
defenders. Screens, flairs-swing, wheels, hooks..and stretch plays that works to cut-back runs.

How on earth is he going to block anyone, other than maybe the tiny CB the skins drafted? He isn't very fast, the highlight runs where he ran away from mostly awful big 12 defenses. I see practice squad for him
There is so much wrong in this post I don't know where to start. Watch games. He has done well against any opponent. Blocking isn't his deal so he won't be asked to do that. He ran away from big school defenses also. Practice squad??? Seriously?

When someone says practice squad for Deuce, that means to me that person is clueless and never watched Deuce play.

By the end of preseason right before the regular season starts, Deuce's doubters will be singing his praise and proclaiming we got a steal late in the 6th!
From what I've read over the last 6 six days, 'A.C.' -- there will be a full choir of once 'Duece doubters' that will be "performing" this upcoming season if Vaughn comew through in a big way.

Yep. Sproles was a great returner, runner, and receiver. What Sproles did at his size is beyond rare, there hasn't been another player that has done it and for so long. If Sproles with Payton for the majority of his career, we're talking going from Hall of Very Good to HOF discussion.
