Kevin Williams couldn't replace Crayton right now. He just wasnt very good IMO. However, if you had a good WR opposite TO, then I think you set yourself up for a Super Bowl. I think Josse brings up a very good point. If TO goes down, and lets face it, the chances of that are probably 90% that he does go down at some point in the season, your in a much better position to deal with it if you have another quality receiver who demands double teams.

I believe in the Noah's Ark approach, two by two. :D

Get to cloning. If you had starter earlier, we would have two Bigg Davis' and Kosier's injury would have been a non-issue. :laugh2:

If you had a superior talent available--- I don't see Boldin being a superior talent. He's good, but he's not a dominant #1 receiver.

If a dominant #1 becomes available then I give you permission to allow the Cowboys to acquire him. :)

Say what you want, but Boldin IS a #1 receiver. He isn't like Santana Moss who is a #2 posing as a #1.

So you're inferring that Boldin "made" Kurt Warner?

LOL!

A lot of people here actually watch football and still use other peoples opinions as their own rather than forming their opinion themselves.

I haven't done a whole lot of research on it, but does KC Joyner's analysis take certain scenarios into consideration, such as rolling Safety help over the top, Zone Defenses, times that Boldin was the hot read on blitzes, etc?

No he's not.

He's only had one year where he's averaged more than 14 ypc.

He's already had two years where he's average 12 ypc or less. Jerry Rice was 34 before he had a season where he averaged less than 12 ypc. Chris Carter was 29 (Boldin is 27).

Michael Irvin never had a year in which he averaged less than 12 ypc-- and Irvin played with some pretty crappy teams to start & end his career.

Boldin's a nice receiver. But he's not worth spending a #1 pick on.

The salary cap and roster limitations are what keep any team from having probowl depth at every position.

You have to pick your poison and live with it.

In 1995, Kevin Williams was the no 2, playing opposite of Michael Irvin-- who was going to replace Irvin had he gotten hurt?

Cory Fleming was our third wide receiver that season. He had a total of six catches.

If that's the criteria for being a No. 1 wide receiver, then Marvin Harrison wasn't a No. 1 wide receiver going into the 2003 season after four straight Pro Bowl seasons, two All-Pro seasons and an NFL record for catches in a season.

Boldin's a nice receiver. But he's not worth spending a #1 pick on.

If I could get Boldin straight-up for a No. 1 pick, I'd do it yesterday.

In the three seasons he has started at least 14 games he is averaging 1,327 yards and 95 receptions per season. 95 receptions and 1,300+ yards per season; you are on drugs if you think he isn't a valid #1.

Well, there you have it! Clearly, a high post count causes heart problems. ;)

Concerning the OP, I'm not sure a #1 pick, particularly where the Cowboys will be picking, constitutes a huge deal.

I think he's a pretty darn good WR Mike. He's not the one I would pick if I had my choice of any WR but I do believe he is a very good one. The problem is, of the top 6 or 8 WRs in the game, which ones will be available at all? That's the kicker. If you have a chance to get a young player who has clearly established himself as one of the best at his position, I think you take the opportunity. This guy is not only talented, he's got the right attitude. He's a team guy and you never see him in trouble. To me, we could do much worse then investing big money in Boldin.

A team guy?

Isn't he weenie-whining about the contract extension he signed back in 2005?

Here's what appeared on the official site of the Cards...

"FLAGSTAFF – Still upset with his contract, Anquan Boldin reiterated his desire for a trade Monday and told the NFL Network he was no longer speaking with head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Tuesday, Whisenhunt reacted to the situation with his star wide receiver, insisting that “nothing has really changed.”

“You (media) have been at practice every day,” Whisenhunt said. “We've been communicating. If communicating is talking, that's what we have been doing at practice. As we go forward, I don't know. I don't foresee anything changing. If it does, it's in his court."

Yeah, he sounds like a "team" guy to me... Yeah, his attitude is... uh... terrific! :D

That's unfair to Boldin -- he's been every bit as productive as Fitzgerald and is making one-fourth the money. It's one thing to be a team player, it's another to be treated like a pawn. There is not a single person out there that wouldn't be pissed if someone in their role, with the same level of performance, was making four times as much money.

I don't think it's that cut and dry. The Cards promised him a new deal last season. Then they promised that they would have something done before the start of this season. They did nothing. He has tried to handle this in a very none public manner for over a year now. He knows that the Cards are not going to do anything for him. That's why he's asking to be traded publically. However, I understand that your opinion of him is not as high as mine.

I do like the guy Mike.

A "Pawn"! LOL!

The guy signed a 5 year contract back in July of 2005 for over $23 million bucks. No one put a gun to his head, no one forced him to sign it.

No one, NO ONE, even in 2005, would have suggested that NFL salaries would stagnate and not ever increase again.

Boldin knew what he was doing in 2005 and he knew that at some point he would no longer be a top paid WR.

He made his bed. And now he's ******ing about it.

Hard cheese Anquan.

You could have won some righteous bucks on me with Warner being a top 10 rated QB last year, I had no idea he played that well.
