In my opinion Romo needs to

1. Protect the ball better

2. Stop forcing the "big play" and understand that sometimes the best play is to not make a mistake.

Once he realizes that ..... I feel he will reach his full potential.

I agree. There are times when you have no choice but to take a high risk and there are times it is better to throw it away or take a sack than to risk turning the ball over. All in all though I'm really not concerned about Romo and his ability to lead this team.

So,

Does he NEED to do these things for the Cowboys to have a chance to succeed in the playoffs?

If he doesn't doesn't improve on either of these things this year and the Cowboys miss or lose the first playoff game will Romo's season be defined as a success of a failure?

I don't think the Cowboys failure last season was due to Romo. I saw what this team looked like without him

Here we go again...

BUT...just to answer your question, I'd say that yes, he does need to do those things to have a chance at success in the playoffs (maybe even just to get to the playoffs). If he doesn't, I'd have to have more evidence (i.e. see all the games first and make a determination off of those) before I could say his season was a failure or not.

Just my opinion about you...Honestly man no disrespect. Nobody can say anything about Romo without you getting mad or making it seem like they are fishing, stupid or trolls.

I love how you boys think you should be able to make the same comment over and over again about our own team ....... yet think no one should be able to disagree with you or call you out on the silly or outright false things you say.

Its a two way street.

Yes ..... he needs to continue to improve for us to be successful.

But our success will not always correspond to how good our QB is.

Unless you feel that Big Ben was the best QB in the league last year ..... or that Elli was the year before.

It won't be make or break in the sense that failure = bench (like Vince Young).

I think failure this year means Dallas gets VERY serious about bringing in competition to hopefully keep Tony focused (by trade, FA or draft). He doesn't have to be the best QB in the league; he just has to make the plays when it matters most and NOT screw up when it matters most.

I also think that, depending on what happens, there would be big changes to the OLine with guys like Flo getting the boot. I doubt there'd be any changes as far as offensive philosophy goes though (Garrett's safe for at least 1 more year).

I think Tony's job is about 75% safe for the next two seasons barring another December disappointment and failure to make the playoffs. Though if that does happen, I think Wade is booted and Garrett elevated to HC (for a year unless he wins a SB)
