Hey BDC

What is the timeline? How does he miss 3 seasons?

When does he start serving and if he only gets the 19.5 months when is he out?

Thanks
Well he started serving a few of weeks ago, so he's probably down under 19 months now.

He missed this season, he'll miss the next two. Even if he gets out before the 2009 season starts, I doubt Goodell will let him play.

any one know if the state is still pursuing charges and can the jail term run consecutively

I think the jail term *could* run consecutively, but the default on plea deals is they run concurrently. Basically a judge or jury has to determine to stack the terms.

That's the way I feel. I don't think he deserved that much time. I think he should've received 12 - 18 months max

thats fine, but he deserved to get more than the other losers got because he was the ring leader, so thinking he'd get less was unrealistic

he could have easily got more than 23 months, and may still depending on what happens with the state

he's a incredibly stupid, thug loser...I have no sympathy for people like that...dont understand why anyone does

Pros
The NFL is always looking for Quarterbacks. If Vinny and Bledsoe are still fielding calls, then I there is no reason Vick cannot come back.

He seems to still have fans as on the radio they even said people wore Vick Jersey to the Courthouse, this could be a positive.

Even though he has been vilified and deservedly so on most accounts, America always loves a good comeback story. If he is given a chance and produces, people in the community he plays for will not care as much.

There are some players in the league who have committed worst crimes, Leonard Little comes to mind.

Cons
He was a marginal Quarterback at worst and a medicore QB at best. He will have to shake the rust off and learn how to read NFL defenses.

The guy brings alot of baggage and in this day and age when it is all about image and marketing, there will be very few teams willing to take a chance on him out of fear of the public backlash

I just saw a Documentary called "Prison Nation" the other night on the Discovery Channel.

Here's some advice...

1. Pay for a TV set in your cell so you cellmate won't *clearing throat* take your virginity.
2. Join up with the Crips or Bloods for protection....if not, the Aryans or Mexicans will beat you to a pulp.
3. No more hippie lettuce while in the pen....you can find weed everywhere but if you get caught it's a felony.
4. If someone grabs your throat and tells you to go down....well that's your decision.
5. You have no friends in there.

Seriously, this guy is in for something that we cannot believe. I'm sorry but Justice has to happen. He knew it was illegal when he did it.

I think Vick is going to white-collar resort prison - not Federal-pound-me-in-the-***-prison.

I don't think that he is a "thug" because he was fighting dogs. He doesn't fit my definition of a thug. I agree that he was stupid for being involved in that nonsense. Anyway, it's not being unrealistic to expect 12-18 months when that is what the DA recommended. The state is just piling on.

I do have sympathy for him.

We just don't know right now. He has the state thing hanging over his head AND he did fail a drug test not long ago. A lot of things have to play out and if i know this commish, he will be tight lipped on Vick until he's out of jail, so until then we can all speculate, but that's all it is IMO

I forgot about that.

I know you asked BDC, but I'm sure he was including this season.

Also, Vick has been in jail 3 weeks already. He turned himself in early. 85% isn't two full calendar years, bu it's still two more football seasons. 2010, I'd say.

I think that Vick is the exception the age rule... like some other freakish athletes are. If he gets to restart his NFL career at 30-31.... you could argue that he has atleast 5 good seasons left in him... unfortunatley... I see those good seasond as a kick returner or punt returner or some hybrid type WR that takes end arounds to the house

That makes sense...after watching that show, I believe only violent offenders should go to that type prison.

Vick just funded an illegal activity.....kinda like Martha Stewart.

That drug test probably added 6 months to his sentence. I like that 85% thing- all sentences should be like that. None of this BS about being sentenced for 10 years and serving 3 like you get at state level.
I really doubt anyone will want Vick after wards; with all his baggage and the fact that he was never all that good as a QB anyway. That long out of the game and anyone trying to make a WR or anything else out of him- that is dreaming.

The Feds do have Min Security- but as I recall even they are not like some country club things on the state level.

Dude, people die every day and no one cares, yet some dude kills a couple of dogs and people want to throw the book at him. I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying there's bigger things going on.

So now no goes to prison for wrong doings, since some have gotten off with lesser sentences in the history of mankind?

Seems excessive.

Does seem excessive in light of what some get for killing humans. I've heard of cases in which a lighter term is given for manslaughter, second-degree murder etc., when mitigating circumstances enter the pickure.

I never was a fan of Vick and thought he hindered the dirty birds more than he helped them, overall.

But in play was our mania for dogs (though the dogs were bred to kill themselves).
Too, the distate for a young black man who made a lot of money, was a celebrity and had the world in his hand came into play, IMHO.
We, as a society, can deny the latter opinion, but I think it is valid and to deny it is just putting your head in the sand.

On the other hand this was a shameless enterprise conducted by shameless men who preened as tough guys while torturing dogs. Anybody who does that deserves the jail time.

Evil has no place in our society, whether it is directed at dogs or human beings.

So it was right but not right? Do I have that right?

Please get back to me to let me know how guilty I should feel for being a white guy who is pleased that Vick is going to jail for this.

Did you see the prison documentary on HBO back in the 90s with the "Tossed Salad Man"? If not, search youtube. I think Michael might have to make a choice between molasses or jelly.
