I just saw a Documentary called "Prison Nation" the other night on the Discovery Channel.

Here's some advice...

1. Pay for a TV set in your cell so you cellmate won't *clearing throat* take your virginity.
2. Join up with the Crips or Bloods for protection....if not, the Aryans or Mexicans will beat you to a pulp.
3. No more hippie lettuce while in the pen....you can find weed everywhere but if you get caught it's a felony.
4. If someone grabs your throat and tells you to go down....well that's your decision.
5. You have no friends in there.

Seriously, this guy is in for something that we cannot believe. I'm sorry but Justice has to happen. He knew it was illegal when he did it.

You might want to actually visit a prison before discussing the do's and dont's of a prison. Watching a silly documentary will not get you ANY answers of how one is to survive in hell. What you see on TV is nothing like what really goes on when the camera is off.

Hey BDC

What is the timeline? How does he miss 3 seasons?

When does he start serving and if he only gets the 19.5 months when is he out?

Thanks

Since he gave himself up that time is already being served as we type; so go from that day until you reach the 85% on when his time is up.

Well he started serving a few of weeks ago, so he's probably down under 19 months now.

He missed this season, he'll miss the next two. Even if he gets out before the 2009 season starts, I doubt Goodell will let him play.

I think the jail term *could* run consecutively, but the default on plea deals is they run concurrently. Basically a judge or jury has to determine to stack the terms.

I think he should let him play. The man did wrong and he already is paying a heavy price -- rightfully so. I think adding anymore punishment on top of that would be overkill.

He got off light.

He isn't going to jail because he was fighting dogs.

He is going to jail because he was running and participating in an illegal gambling ring. He was involved in organized crime.

He got off real light given the Judge and district he was in.

I don't think that he is a "thug" because he was fighting dogs. He doesn't fit my definition of a thug. I agree that he was stupid for being involved in that nonsense. Anyway, it's not being unrealistic to expect 12-18 months when that is what the DA recommended. The state is just piling on.

I do have sympathy for him.

It was organized crime, even if a bit small fry.

I should rephrase. I don't think Goodell will let him play in 2009 even if he gets out in July - August of that year. After that I think Goodell would and should let him play if someone wants to sign him. So I'm thinkin 2010.

I think he will since he will have time served at that point. Plus he be getting out for good behavior

Tank Johnson served his time (6 months IIRC) and he got an 8 game suspension when he got out.

Not that light, he could have gone for up to 5 years and instead got 2. Most sentencings don't even approach the maximum penalty, there just isn't enough room in the prisons to sentence everyone for maximum for every crime they commit.

I also wouldn't call 2 years in jail light, he's not going to camp cupcake like Martha Stewart or anything.

I personally think this is BS, yes he did wrong in killing animals, but 2 years of a humans life worth a dogs life, i think is ridiculous how they are taking 2 years of his life over some animals. Why is it OK to kill cows pigs and chickens and not dogs?

If and when he gets clearance to play, the question is: What team wants to put up with PETA people waving placards before, during and after each game. What team wants to be led by a guy convicted of abusing and killing dogs?

People tend to forget after a while, but PETA will make sure it remains fresh. Don't like PETA but sometimes they serve a purpose.

And yet again...I paste this informative post for the clarification of everyone who has said thong in disarray thinking Mr. Vick is going to jail for killing a few dogs.

So it was right but not right? Do I have that right?

Please get back to me to let me know how guilty I should feel for being a white guy who is pleased that Vick is going to jail for this.

I think you have all the answers already, so I won't tell you.:)

Do you know what charges that Vick pleaded guilty to?

He didn't just slaughter animals to eat; he tortured animals for his jollies. Also many of us would disagree with you about Animal life meaning so little that it should just get a slap on the wrist.

That seems reasonable to me; therefore, expect hundreds of posts denouncing it.

Thanks for the insight, btw.

I don't think PETA has as much clout as most people think they do.

If he shows contrition, most fans will give him another chance. There have been a lot worse guys play football after committing crimes.
