Questionable move. I think McNabb is a very good QB. You have to know Vick isn't being brought in to sit on the bench. No way.

And why???

I hate it. I dont want that dynamic of an athlete in our division.

Jaws thinks Vick will really upset McNabb. Gruden might have been pimping Jaws, but he said that McNabb couldn't deliver the big game, and that Vick might be the one to do it.

A little quarterback controversy in Philly is always good. I can't wait to see the banners and posters hung around the stadiums when Vick shows up. I just don't see the fans welcoming him back.

I agree with a lot of what you said, PT. Vick is pretty similar to McNabb, at least in terms of mobility. Assuming McNabb goes down at some point during the year, Vick could come in, and Philly/Reid wouldn't really have to alter the playcalling too significantly. Assuming Vick picks up the system adequately, that can be a plus.

That having been said, I don't know that Vick can "develop" anymore. The guy was drafted, what, 8 years ago? This is just me talking, but at some point, I think you are what you are.

I'm not sure I really understand the signing. Yes, he's fast, but what made him special was that he was that athletic as a QB. I'm doubting he'll be playing much QB outside of some gimmick packages and even then, I'm not real sure why you'd want to take the ball out of McNabb's hands and have someone else throw it. That's especially true given that McNabb is pretty mobile himself.
To groom the QB of the future for philly.

Don't worry, philly fans are generally horrible people too. They'll welcome him with open arms.

McNabb has proven that just about anything will upset him.

Besides, if McNabb is upset by or scared of a guy who has been in prison for 2 years, then the Eagles have even bigger problems.

And it's not like he was riding the bench and didn't play the majority of his first few years in the league. He was out on the field. He's never going to be a good passer, but if he can keep his athleticism, he can at least be effective in other roles. Still, I think his athleticism separates him from other QBs, but put him in a role where he's not head and shoulders faster than others at his position and I don't think he's got much.

AGree ..there's risk involved. By "develop" I meant develop into a predominantly throwing QB In lieu of a predominantly running/scrambling QB. McNabb made that transition about 4 or 5 years ago.

Andy Reid is a smart coach I'm sure he'll have Vick and McNabb on the field at the same time along with Westbrook. That will be hard to stop.

But I think he is going to be very humble and appreciative. That locker rioom survived TO at his worst. He won't destroy their chemistry.
Uh, what?

Anyway... I can't believe the hand-wringing on this. When I heard it, my first thought was to LMAO at the Eagles. They're going to have to deal with PETA pickets and all kinds of media crapstorm for doing this.

How is Vick going to hurt us? He probably won't even play unless McFlabb is out. And if they use some type of trick stuff, that's taking carries from Westbrook or Jackson or whoever else they have.

Besides, we have Bobby Carp to spy him and shut him down. :p:

Oh, and my second thought? *** you, Schefter, for assuming the Eagles would never want a loser like this but the Cowboys automatically would. Turned out the biggest scum player is going to the biggest scum team... Perfect.

Exactly, I wanted to say that. You're describing some QB option passes, rezzle-dazzle plays where Vick could either use his passing or running skills for sweeps, etc.

I am just glad to see he's back on a team. He was one of my favorite players to watch before all the troubles started and hopefully he'll still be exciting to watch.
