Vick signs with Philadelphia...***Mort Confirms***

From Vick's standpoint, this was probably the best situation he could have hoped for.

1) He isn't coming in as a savior or with a team having big designs on him helping it right away. Taking a back seat will allow the fervor to die down over his dogfighting past.

2) He is behind a starting quarterback who likely doesn't have too many seasons left, so when the fervor does die down it will be time for him to step in.

3) He gets to learn from a quarterback with running skills, which might help him improve his game ... although I don't know if much can be done about his inaccuracy.

4) He lands on a team that's fanbase doesn't really seem to care about what is politically correct, booing things that other fans would show respect for. Of course, it's also a fanbase that will turn on him quickly if he doesn't play well.

McNabb is 32, while Vick is 29. By the time McNabb is done, Vick will be getting to the age where his athleticism is dying out, rendering him almost useless.

Exactly, I wanted to say that. You're describing some QB option passes, rezzle-dazzle plays where Vick could either use his passing or running skills for sweeps, etc.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. I don't understand why some posters think Vick is just going to be some average backup. He won't. Philly will bring the the razzle-dazzle especially in the final game of the season (maybe the playoffs too). I just hope Dallas will be in the playoffs by then.

I would imagine that they're going to ease him back in considering how long he's been out, so if we're going to see a game that "features" Vick and what he can do, it wouldnt surprise me if its against us.

Mort was way off saying McNabb would be pissed. Vick is no threat to start on that team unless McNabb goes down...but they did need some bench help. Plus they are creatvie and will find a way to use him

If it gives you a first down or an extra TD, it will be a difference maker.

I don't know if it has already been said or not because I am posting from my celly.. but... had we not dealt with TO drama over the past few years (contrived or not) we would have Vick in our stable right now. Say what u want and hate on Vick's mistake all u want... The bottom line is the Eagle just landed an incredible talent and no team in this league can afford to pas that up... Ok. Flame on. Yes, there will be distractions. Philly and Donovan McNabb couldn't handle Owens. I think this will be extra distracting to McNabb....or at least I hope so.

I think if it was up to Jerry, he still would have been even this year. Steven probably vetoed any consideration of that.
