Some people make the Draft and off season a hell of a lot more complicated than it needs to be.

24 players on Offense assuming the following.

QB...UDFA, trade, 4th round

RB...4th round, 2nd round, 4th round

FB...6th round

WR...trade, 7th round, UDFA, UDFA, 4th round

TE...3rd round, 2nd round, 7th round

OT...2nd round, FA, 4th round, 7th round

OG...FA, FA, UDFA, trade

C...2nd round

That means 14 of them are Draft picks, 4 are UDFAs, 3 are FAs, and 3 are trades.

25 players on Defense assuming the following.

DE...1st round, FA, 3rd round, UDFA, UDFA

NT...7th round, FA

OLB...1st round, 1st round, 4th round, 5th round

ILB...4th round, FA, 1st round, 3rd round, 5th round

CB...1st round, 1st round, 5th round, 7th round, 7th round

FS...FA, 5th round

SS...FA, 6th round

That breaks down as 18 draft picks, 2 UDFAs, and 5 FAs.

4 players on Special teams.

K...6th round, 5th round

P...UDFA

LS...UDFA

That breaks down as 2 draft picks and 2 UDFAs.

34 of 53 roster spots are Draft picks. Safe to say some of those Draft picks are replacing other Draft picks who have departed. Kevin Burnett comes to mind immediately. Remember the NFL is a business and Free Agency takes players away.

8 more players are UDFAs, including our starting QB.

42 of 53 roster spots directly covered by the Scouting department. Would someone like to point out to me which of those 42 could not make another NFL roster?

8 Free Agents.

3 trades.

Some of you do not have a realistic expectation of how to build an NFL team. Sorry to burst your bubble though I doubt you will admit it popped.

******t Hos. I luv your work...:)

Thank you.

Our drafting isn't new to scrutiny, and every time it is, ours is proven to be more effective than most in the NFL....yet somehow people still fail to comprehend "perspective" in this regard.

So I take it the truth wasn't dropped after all? :storm:

The truth is organizations like the steelers, ravens, pats, and titans don't have consecutive drafts where the best they've produced was a kicker.

With the exception of Folk, only Free and Spencer have to potential to be major contributors. I've lost all hope for everyone else. Like i said this is years 3 and 4 for these guys. If they haven't showed it by now, chances are they're not going to show it.

It seems like only yesterday people were calling Bradie James a bust because he hadn't cracked the starting lineup in 3 years. Cracked it? He hadn't even sniffed it. Then when he did he struggled in coverage. Now, they talk about him as a potential Pro Bowler at ILB.

Patience isn't a virtue, it's a stranger.

Ever heard of having no perspective? Half of all first round picks bust out of the league. The percentage gets worse the farther you get down in the draft.

If you can hit on two 2nd day picks at all then you are ahead of the pack.

A more precise statement would be if you can hit on one out of every 4 fouth rounders you are doing very well. Barber, Free and Choice say hello.

There is that loser mentality again.

You can't shake that thing can you.

I am sorry some fans wanted a little more from the 2006 and 2007 drafts.

And you do know MBIII and Choice weren't in the 2006 and 2007 drafts right?

Hit play again.

Congrats. You just built a team that hasn't won a damn thing.

Where should we put the trophy Mr. Jones?

You're missing the mark here Dc...I don't see anyone here that wouldn't have "wanted a little more" from any of our drafts. Some of us, however, choose to look at our results a little more realistically, and can view it in perspective of how our results stack up to the other teams in the NFL....and they stack up well.

His pointing out Choice and Barber were to prove a point...not to suggest that they were within those drafts.

That's a cop out. How about you actually refute the point?

This thread topic is THEEE ultimate can of worms. The chicken or the egg theory. Pure speculation and interpretation runs amuck. Kinda like a draft choice................

Nice

Though I do understand the frustration with the 2006 - 2007 drafts.

But that blame can be equally shared by Parcells ..... who some of these people complaining worship.

So if Terry Glenn makes that catch (SOMEONE WE DIDNT DRAFT) and we go on and have a run al la Giants, and win the Super Bowl, would you be singing another tune, possibly the correct tune.

Lets make something clear that i have said for a long time, the combine tells you very little about players. Bottom line. Not all teams even draft well and we are not the only team to miss on players.

What if injuries didnt plague us last year and we did a run, would you sing yet another tune? So many factors go into a season, understand they cannot all be foreseen NOR does a draft play into the role of a season. Sorry not all of your draftees are going to make a season for you.

That Loser mentality is getting real old around here. To many times I have made it clear where I stand and people disagree and are ok with being a loser or not making the playoffs. I'm not ok with Nice stats and fancy plays with nothing to show for. Get Some Wins when it matters, get some accountability and get the Team turned in the right direction. END OF STORY! If you are ok with mediocre results go follow the Lions. We are the freaking COWBOYS. Get it done ******.
