:laugh2: Didn't even notice I typed it that way. Oops.

At least he stood erect while spraying the field with, umm, his passes.

Nice way to "finish" the joke. Very clever.

People including the press have the wrong idea about this injury.

It is not an injury to his pinkie. His pinkie is just fine. For now.

It's a fracture of the fifth metacarpal and the fracture is just below the knuckle. Right now its nondisplaced.

Again. Not a problem of toughing it out. The problem is protecting it from becoming a displaced fracture.

With Romo insisting on playing I'm guessing they are doing the best they can to stabilize that area and protect it from trauma. If he can throw the ball well and they can protect it then it's a no brainer. He tries to play.

But if this backfires and he gets that hit hard enough (which wouldn't take a lot) to displace that fracture then he's going backwards.

Could he still play if it was displaced. Yeah depending on if he didn't care about having surgery to fix it later or just living with it deformed and likely having less strength in that hand.

Could it get displaced enough that he would have to have surgery. You bet.

If it gets angulated towards the thumb enough his pinkie will point at the thumb. Bet that doesn't help his throwing and accuracy.

If it gets angulated away from the thumb then it will be constantly getting caught to things. Enough rotation and the side of the pinkie will be up pointed in the wrong direction.

The thoughts of a significantly displaced and angulated and rotated pinkie bothers me since we're talking about a Pro Bowl franchise QB who just set all kinds of records passing last year and it's likely to get much better with RWR here now.

Tony and Jerry have been told this I'm sure. It's Tony's hand at risk so it's his decision unless the owner vetos him playing.

It's a high risk proposition that will look golden if he gets thru the next few weeks without a major complication. OTOH it will look like lunacy if we lose him for the rest of the year which could happen.

There is a good chance he'll only get it displaced a little if he plays and he's protected IMO. If he can throw with little displacement then they will have been right.

Risky as hell.

And it's not a finger fracture.

Terrific post.

Thank you very much.

I know there is a huge risk.

But the guys in here saying that it's just the Rams remind me of the players who showed up the last three weeks thinking that just because they were the Cowboys they were going to win.

Bad Johnson is the backup for a reason.

This team can't afford a loss right now.

You do whatever you can to win football games and Romo is this team's QB so if he can go then he should go.

Are you serious? If the risk is missing 2+ months if he sustains additional trauma, and the probability if sustaining said trauma is fairly high, then there is no way I let him start. Your logic is foolish. There are long term goals for this team.

If this team NEEDS Romo to beat the Rams, the freaking RAMS, then pack it up and I'll see you all at the draft.

ESPN showed an extended clip during the 5 o'clock hour today. Romo's balls had a huge, huge wobble to them, and they were practicing indoors, right?

no homo

What is the long term goal when we lose this game because the Rams are amped to beat the big bad Cowboys?

Maybe you missed the past three games, but this team isn't clicking on all cylinders.

Did they need him to beat the Bengals?

That question makes no sense. They didn't need him to lose to them, he could have sat in a bubble bath that day, we still lost.
