I could live with that because we are in WIN NOW MODE.
Still would hurt to give up a first round pick.
But if it would get us to the Super bowl.....

I don't think they'd trade our 1st straight up for Peterson but if its something like our 1st for Peterson and their 2nd, it might be possible.

Still a long shot though.

He wasn't coming here anyway. Who cares. Dallas isn't trading for him or at least shouldn't trade for him. It would stupid to take on his contract and give up a pick or picks. AP to Dallas was mostly fan fiction to me anyway.

They are just doing everything they can to get something heading into the draft. I think he'll be cut after the draft and before training camp...they don't want to pay him that much and he aint going to take a pay cut cause he doesn't want to be there.

I mean would you trade down from 27 to 45 for Adrian Peterson? I would. Especially when you see what's there at 27.

I expect Dogra and Peterson to take it to the next level and come out publicly and explain their side of the story, stating clearly that "Adrian Peterson no longer wants to play for the Minnesota Vikings".

I think any team that obviously forces a player to stay after that looks pretty bad.

And desperate.

But it has happened before. Teams (owners) don't care, especially when they have the power. They'll let him sit out. Yes, the Vikings can be that vindictive.

I have to believe this is posturing by the Vikes. I don't see them paying $13M to a disgruntled back that brings all sorts of baggage with him. But they're not in a rush to cut him either so they may as well see if they can squeeze picks out of some clown before doing so. In the end, no GM in the league is likely to fall for these shenanigans and Peterson is likely to be a late cut (maybe even a training camp cut). By that time, most teams will have made other plans at RB and the market for Peterson (likely to be limited already, as it was for Hardy) will have largely dried up. We'll see if the Cowboys try to add him to the fold on the cheap when the time comes.

If Peterson hits the dry market, it will get wet pretty quickly.

Not sure what you mean here??? Nude sig? you know hes called the "kraken" right?

Yeah I edited that, it appears doing it after June 1st gives no real relief (assumed he'd have a lot of dead money, but not according to overthecap.com)...but I still think it happens sometime after the draft...whether or not the Cowboys are interested remains to be seen.

Do you remember any, post salary cap? Because I can't.

Peterson's a great player and all, and I'd be all over him at the right price if he were a FA, but I have to say, if I were a Viking fan, I'd be getting pretty ticked at the stance he's taking towards that organization. He's got his pride, and he's probably right that there are some in the organization that don't support him, but where's the responsibility he's taking for his actions here? He's the one who put the club and the league in a horrible position re: the PR impact. It cost the team sponsorship dollars and was a massive distraction last season. The whole time he was collecting salary for an incident of his own doing. While I don't think he was beating his kid maliciously, he very definitely went overboard and it was just truly awful judgement.

At some point, a man has to step back and say 'yah, I created this giant mess that the organization then didn't handle well.' And then get back to work and start earning that next $12.5M next season instead of pouting because you think they ought to have had your back more than they did.

I think AP just wants out of Minnesota and sees this latest situation as a way to get out.

I'm glad Vikings aren't releasing him cuz we wouldn't here the end of him. I think he's staying. Gets paid and ends up ending career there

Carson Palmer and Sean Gilbert come to mind, though Gilbert was pre salary cap.
But if AP didn't play, would the Vikings be obligated to pay his salary?

Palmer is a pretty good example, forgot about him. (considering it was only Cincinnati and Oakland!) ;)

I'd take my chances on our team being better with an unknown draft pick and 10+ million in cap space to play with than just Peterson. It's not just the pick it's the big money too.

Eventually, everyone pays. Patriots had Revis roaming around back there last year, Seattle is paying for Lynch, who will be 29 years old...,,,

And the truth is. Rookies rarely step up in a big big way. It takes them time to adjust......not to say that it doesn't happen. Look at Martin last year. But its a pretty big gamble to rely on a rookie making a big contribution.

And Age is a concern with AP. But we only need him for 1-2 years. get AP, and draft your Yeldon or the guy from UNI, in the 4th or 5th. Since this is a year deep in RBs.....
