Pacman Jones was as responsible as anyone for the Titans' run in '06. He was out of this world coming down the stretch.

Which plays and how many comebacks? If anyone wants to place the credit on anyone, it should be Fisher for pulling his hair out trying to figure ways to keep this kid out of trouble come game days.

Try getting your facts straight. Here are some FACTS for you on the 2006 season.

The Titans were 0-3 with Kerry Collins starting. They were 8-5 with Vince Young Starting.

As for comebacks, here are a few:
Against the Giants on 11/26 - Down 21 in the 4th quarter, rallys to win 24-21.
Against the Colts on 12/3 - Down 14-0 in the first half, and down 14-10 at the start of the 4th quater, Titans rally to beat the Colts.
Against the Texans on 12/10 - Down 17-13 in the 4th quarter, rallyed to take the lead in the 4th quarter as well as scoring the winning TD himself.
Buffalo on 12/24 - Down 29-20 at the start of the 4th quater, rallied the team to win 30-29.

All of this for a rookie QB, that was viewed by my so called experts as unready to play as a rookie in the NFL....

Does Vince Young need to improve as a QB, absolutely. And the truth is no one knows if he will develop into even a decent NFL QB yet. BUT, with the WR's that the Titans have on their team, his stats will NOT impress. No one on the Titans roster last year at WR would have started for the Bears last year, and the Bears were not exactly the best WR corps in the league by any means.....

Aikman probably should have retired after two seasons too...

26 games
4328 yards (166 YPG)
55.1% completion
20 TDs
36 INTs
6.25 YPA

He should have quit before things got worse. Give Young a break, QB is a tough position to learn, even more so when you didn't play in a pro style offense in college. The guy doesn't really have anyone to throw to. Give him some more time.

Yep... Exactly! Vince Young is the truth, they need to put the weapons around him so people can see his full potential.

He was one of the greatest college quarterbacks ever, but so were Andre Ware and Ryan Leaf

The guy just doesnt seem to have what it takes to be a great NFL QB. We already knew he made Jessica Simpson look brilliant and couldnt throw very accuratly, and now it appears that he has lost the heart that he had at Texas.

I have no idea what you are talking about. But, I am FAR from sold on Vince Young as a QB. BUT, I am also not stupid enough to write him off and act like he is a guaranteed failure after just his second NFL season. Especially when he had a bad quad most of last year and has yet to have a WR on his team that is better than even Patrick Crayton (who most people on this forum view as a decent #3 WR at best).

Read the article. Obviously there were some tough family issues going on and who knows what else at the time. Everyone has hard points in their life where at least for a moment they feel like quitting. Like he ever would have really done it. The guy is a class act and had a very tough childhood, and managed to make the best of things (hardly the mark of a weak mind), instead of becoming a lifelong criminal and being in and out of prison like his dad, he decided to do the right things, do well in school, play football, get a college scholarship, play in the NFL, and become the leader of his team.

That's fairly obvious.............Mr. "Facts".

I asked a simple question, of another poster mind you, and you come riding in on your high horse. Good call buttinsky. I never said one word about writing him off. Assume much? I stated he wasn't near the hype the press pumped him up to be. In short............welcome to the NFof L baby boy.

If ever there was a Vince homer.....................

Vince Young's top 2 WRs are in their 6th and 4th season respectively and they had a total of 80 catches between them b4 this season , actually they average around 11 catches a season, this year they both caught 55 passes, 44 above both their averages..... VY is set up for failure if u get him no WRz.

Romo came in with Witten, TO and Glenn, compared to Roydell Williams, Justin Gage and Bo Scaife.. Imagine if Romo had those 3 as his targets...........

As an Aggie fan, even I can admit he was a wonder to behold at Texas. He almost single-handidly took that team to a national title. He DID single-handidly win two straight Rose Bowls with two of the greatest single game performances ever seen in college football.

He was like the Michael Jordan of college football. He would just toy with you, then rip your heart out, step all over it and eat it for dinner.

Please, oh wise sage, elaborate. List me 5...Hell, list me 3 college quarterbacks that were so vastly superior to Young?

Wow, seriously? Regardless of what he does in the NFL, he was no doubt one of the greatest college qb's ever. A good argument can be made that he was one of the greatest college football players ever regardless of position.

Uhmm let's see that might be hard to do.......

Roger Staughback
Doug Flutie
Tommie Frazier
Jim McMahon
Ty detmer
Peyton Manning
Jim Plunkett
Sammy Baugh
Troy Aikman
John Elway
Charlie Ward
Danny Wuerfel

There are only 2 or 3 on that list that I would say Vince Young was better than. Vince Young was a very good College Qb not best ever unless of course your from Texas, then heck yeah man greatest ever.

Who?

Doug Flutie

One play does not a collegient career make. He may be the only player in history to win the Heisman solely because of one play.

Tommie Frazier

Agreed, I'd put him right there with Young. Orchestrated the option to absolute perfection. NU ran for 500 YPG in 1995 with him.

Jim McMahon

:lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2:

Ty detmer

Never won anything, most memorable moment was him curling up in the fetal position after having both shoulders dislocated by Quentin Coryatt in the '90 Holiday Bowl.

Peyton Manning

Could never win the big game at Tennessee

Jim Plunkett

Decent argument can be made for him, but he never willed his team as Vince did

Sammy Baugh

Was a better pro than collegient player, but he's up there

Troy Aikman

Very efficient, but hardly one of the greatest QBs ever

John Elway

Very good, but never won the big game

Charlie Ward

Played HORRIBLY in the clutch and went to the NBA because of it

Danny Wuerfel

System QB who did his job well but was hardly great in his own right.

There are only 2 or 3 on that list that I would say Vince Young was better than.

That's because you clearly don't watch much college football and are roughly 12 years old.

1: It's "you're"

2: I didnt go to Texas

The only guys on your list in Young's league are Plunkett, Baugh and Frazier. Not many guys have ever willed their team against all odds like he did.

He's not a good pro QB though and likely never will be.

Having your franchise QB talk about quitting is like having your strong safety talk about not wanting the ball thrown his way and how God has made him a wimp. oops.

1. Excuse me officer I misstook this spelling bee for a football forum
2. Never said you went to Texas. Good at grammar, bad at reading comprehension, huh?
3.Plunkett, Baugh, Frazier. I believe that's three, which is what you asked for right?

It's all a matter of opinion anyway. You got yours I got mine.Vince Young has a place at the top, just not best ever.
This twelve year old has been watching football since 1964.
