Vince Young or Tony Romo?

...for me is who rebounds the best from a poor performance or a heartbreaking loss.

It still early in both careers, but I think the way Tony has responded from the fumbled snap to have the kind of season he's had means something.

I'm with Jerry on this one - let's wait. Things are going good and the season is on. Tony will let us know how good he really is.

Right now they're in different phases of their QB development. Romo's had 4 years of grooming and so, right now, I would take Romo.

If they were in the same phase in their careers, then I would think this would be more of a valid comparison.

I'm from Texas and I'm a HUGE VY fan, specially since he beat USC in the Rose Bowl... I still have a friend who has that game recorded on his DVR and he watches the 4th quarter over and over... LOL

ANYWAY, I'd take Romo just because he's been groomed here, and smiles all the time... He just has that natural passion and the ability keeps growing by leaps and bounds...Furthermore, Romo has many, many more weapons at his disposal. With what Big D has right now would be unmistakenly superior to what Tennessee can put together even in a five year span IMO.

Can we combine the best traits of both QBs into one and have him play for Dallas?

Romo.

It's not even close for me.

Vince Young will be a very good QB. He's as athletic as all git out-- however I don't ever see him having the touch on the football that Romo has-- nor does he have Romo's mental game. Don't get me wrong-- Young can gun it in. But Romo will always be able to read defenses better and will complete touch passes that Young won't.

Jeff Fischer was in a interview the other day and said VY's ability to grasp and execute the offense was incredible. He said that they didn't run any limited packages and still VY retained nearly everything. Romo is clearly the man but he has been groomed for 4 years to get to this point. It seems that you are clearly selling VY short. Take Romo at exactly the same point in his development and make him a starter no way he's any where near the caliber of VY at this point.

Vince Young isn't going to last. Someone is going to bust his knee. Any running QB is at greater risk. Tony can run too, but he doesn't because it is more important to be in the huddle than on the sideline. Ask Culpepper.

The difference between Romo and Young is like asking who would you rather have, Culpepper in his prime or Manning? Different styles, and one is much more effective.

i am probably the biggest VY fan on this board. seen him go through his career i think that VY has the clear advantage of leadership over Romo. and that is NOT a knock on Romo because he is a very good leader himself. But Vince has something about him that just inspires confidence to his teammates eveywhere he plays. he is the type of leader that the all-time greats in all sports have. he makes all players around him better!

Romo has the edge in accuracy although Vince gets better every year. Romo right now is just great at putting the ball where it needs to be to get his receivers extra yards while Vince is still improving in that area. Vince has the edge in arm strenght although Romo has a much better arm that people give him credit for! Both are tremendous playmakers at making something out of absolutely nothing. 2 of the best in the game at that!

Its honestly a tough one! in the next 2 years i would take Romo because he has been groomed and is a great one right now but in 3 years i think Vince will be one of the elite in the game without a doubt. His will to win and to get better is something that reaches MJ level. Young is never satisfied and like mike uses any slight insult as motivation to get better and prove the doubters wrong!

And everytime i hear somebody compare Vince to Vick they show they have absolutely no knowledge about anything. the only comparison between them is that they are both black and have the ability to run or well had in Vicks case. Vince Young is a QB that is able to run while Vick was a runner that played QB. absoulte no comparison between the 2! so PLEASE STOP COMPARING THEM!!!

are you asking who we like better or are you asking who we like better for Dallas? Cause there is a difference.

I will be honest and I do not care about how you guys feel about it. Ok, for a long time Peyton Manning was my favorite QB. Then Vince Young came along. I was a fan of Vince since he started at UT. I watched him grow and progress into the QB, leader, and winner he is today. Vince became my favorite QB. Then Romo came on about the same time as Vince. However, I had yet to build a fanship of Romo, other than the fact he was the new Cowboys QB.

Vince Young is my favorite NFL QB. He will be as long as he maintains his solid stature on and off the field. I just wish he was on the Texans, so I could see him play every single week. Although he is my favorite QB, and I would love to see him in Dallas, I wouldn't trade away Tony Romo for him.

Tony Romo is my second favorite QB. I would not trade him for Vince Young. Tony is a perfect fit for our team.

Peyton has been moved down to 3rd on my list. I am so glad that he got his SB ring. But now he can let Tony and Vince win a few. Peyton is a great guy on and off the field.

One thing about my favorite players, they may not always be the best on the field (a lot of times they are), but they are very solid people off the field. If they lack off field character, I have a hard time rooting for them, even if they are on my favorite team.

BTW, surprisingly, one QB I have grown to like is Chris Simms. I didn't like him at UT cause of the whole Major Applewhite thing. However, the way he he has fought for his job, and then played with a ruptured spleen and brought his team back for a win (the defense choked away that game).....made me a fan. He finally showed heart and toughness.

I like Simms toughness but i always got frusterated at him for wasting Roy Williams talent while at Texas. Same for BJ Johnson. That Texas offense had major talent but Simms always seemed to take the dump off.

well it is good to see that you actually watch Vince Young, NOT........He is not a running QB. If you have watched him at all this year, he doesn't run. He dances around the pocket looking for open receivers, and then at the last minute he runs.

Vince doesn't just take the ball and look to run like the Canine Assassin. Vince is a pass first, pocket QB, who if need be, can run and scramble like a RB.

Also, you say Romo is more effective, yet Young has a better record as a starter. IMO, wins are more effective than yds or pts. I don't care if you win every game 3-0......it's better than scoring 30 and losing. Vince has been more effective at winning. Also, don't forget, Vince was 3-1 against the NFC East last year, and we had a losing record in our division.

For Dallas, I take Romo over Young, but please do not discount what Vince brings to the table. His impact goes far beyond stats. He brings "IT".......just as Romo brings "IT".

If this were a message board for any other team (i.e., a team NOT LOCATED IN TEXAS), this would not even be up for discussion.

I understand what your saying just one minor gripe.

VY is 10-6 as a starter
Tony Romo is 9-5, not really that much of a difference. Afte this week he should be 10-5

what an idiotic question to ask on a cowboys board. Any boys fan that would not take Romo over young right now is an idiot or lying. Anyone asking this question on a Cowboys forum is not the brighest bulb in the light fixture.

Give me ROMO all day, everyday, twice on Sundays. Guarentee 99.9% of all fans will reply this way. Myself included.

Goofball? cause he smiles while working his magic. That just shows me he loves what hes doing and the passion matches the smile. hes not a goofball or any less serious then Young. If anything maybe more serious then young. Young does not have to keep a prima dona receiver happy.

Gimmie Romo! Great instincts, moves well in the pocket to make the throw downfield, extremely accurate, very confident, student of the game and respects the game, great work ethic, humble, and his teammates love him....

I'm a Texas alumnus, a stalwart Longhorn, and big fan of Vince Young. In my opinion, Young has matured into very good NFL quarterback; however, when evaluating two or more NFL quarterbacks, I will normally choose the better pure passer. And at this point, Romo is unquestionably the better pure passer.
