EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The New York Giants put the ball on the ground four times and lost it once. The Dallas Cowboys forced all four and came away with one, and Von Miller said that was the difference in a 28-20 loss Sunday night at MetLife Stadium.

“We had two good opportunities to get off the field,” Miller said. “They put the ball on the ground a couple times too. The complexion of the game would look a whole lot different.”

Rookie Caleb Downs stripped Jaxson Dart on a second-quarter sack and Giants guard Jon Runyan recovered. Outside linebacker Donovan Ezeiruaku knocked the ball out of Isaiah Likely in the first quarter and New York fullback Patrick Ricard recovered. Cornerback Cobie Durant forced one out of Cam Skattebo in the fourth quarter, and Skattebo recovered it himself.

The one Dallas got came at the two-minute warning of the second quarter, when defensive tackle Quinnen Williams punched the ball loose from behind and cornerback Shavon Revel recovered at the Dallas 19.

Yeah, it would have been different if they had recovered those fumbles.

However, the Cowboys had many chances to get off the field on 3rd and long and failed to do so. Wasn’t there a Dart run for like 20 something yards on 3rd and really long? That was pathetic and that is why they lost.

Don’t forget the dropped passes. The 30 yarder to Pickens right before the half literally changed the trajectory of the game. Gnats got the ball back and scored then got the 2nd half kickoff and scored. 14 pts. Game over. Cowboys only got the ball twice in the 2nd half and scored TD’s both times.

Almost forgot the 9 penalties.

Did he even play last night or I mean Sunday my bad.. I mean I got so frustrated with the defense I started putting it on pause through all the defense which was about 10 to 12 minutes plus some commercials there is 15 minutes of the game that we go by during our defensive possessions yeah that that I just missed whether 40 was even on the field..

Sooner or later what goes up must come down. We weren't going to continue to dominate that team forever. The bounces and our sad defense went their way.

Rather than relaying upon chance, how about stopping third downs? How about not giving up chunk plays all the time? Not being able to force punts is a far bigger problem than the ball not bouncing your way.

Didn’t even realize he played.

This is gonna get better. It will.
Seriously. I’m not some eternal optimist but it’s gonna be better eventually.

The season will probably be blown by then since you’re not likely to win much of anything with all road playoff games. That’s why you don’t skip the preseason when things are new, but they figured they had it set already.

Another division loss with not one of them being against Philly would be problematic….and this weeks game is huge. I’d strongly consider forgetting about last week.

Yeah SNF opening night on the road with a brand new defense personnel, brand new defensive scheme and all new coaches. What were people expecting a well oiled defense?

Yea if you're banking on fumble luck to improve your defense, you're not going to get there.

That said, a couple different bounces and he's right.

Cowboys defense dominating Rams. Their biggest play was a 12 yard out. This is great news that some won’t get it because many don’t think training camp and preseason counts. This scrimmage counted for a lot. The Cowboys showing that they aren’t the same defense as last year.
