First of all, (his last year with Tampa) the team was inundated with injuries to the starters. Before that, Gruden had his own version of T-O to deal with in the form of Keyshawn Johnson (the one-true team cancer). Both of these issues are neither excuses nor reasons why they had losing records - only mitigating circumstances.

Secondly, I don't want to hear how great Wade's track record is in the regular season. That crap was laid on us his first year and fell on this fan's deaf ears. I want to know how he did in the post season. That's all that really counts now, isn't it?

And trust me, as stated earlier, I didn't come to this conclusion lightly.

You've got to be kidding me.

Keyshawn was there one and a half of his seven years there. I knew the guy was a jerk, but he ruined the team for the next five years after he was gone?

Yes, the one and only true head coach out there is the one who lost to Brad Johnson, something even the Rams couldn't do.

He's also the one who lost to the Raiders -- at home -- the last game of the year to fall out of the playoffs and let the Eagles have a chance.

And I watched the video. Why would that change my mind? It's all the same ranting Chuckie stuff we've seen before. All it shows is that your carefully considered opinion is based on histrionics and superficiality.

Geez. I thought you were at least going to say Cowher.

Hmm...I guess we could debate this adnauseam for the rest of the night but I'm choosing to drink beer and watch football instead.

But something does bother me about with what you said regarding the "histrionics and superficiality" comment. Do you honestly believe that is the basis for my opinion? Seriously?

And since I'm bringing up the words "honestly" and "believe" to you, do you honestly believe that Wade Phillips is a better head coach than Jon Gruden?

Or are you simply playing devil's advocate here?

(edit)

PS: I challenge you to find a video of Wade at least pretending to act like a head coach - ever!

You didn't double dog dare me, so no.

Seriously, it would be easier and shorter to just say, "I have an irrational hate of Wade" and be done with it.

I was waiting to drop the big guns on you with my triple dog dare.

Not to be confused with my rational hatred for Wade as the head coach of our team.

And wouldn't it be easier and shorter for you to simply say, "I have an irrational love of Wade", and be done with it?

More love for "Chuckie":

Can't believe my simple mind could fall for such claptrap.

Ohh, game's back on and there's still more beer to drink.

Getting rusty.

The burden of proof is yours, since you brought Gruden into the conversation.

I only brought him into the conversation because I was asked. And now I pose the question to you. Do you honestly believe that Wade is a better head coach than Gruden?

For this team, yes.

I think Garrett is just as good a playcaller as Gruden.

Monte Kiffin's defenses often carried those Bucs teams.

Plus Wade doesn't have a history of backstabbing his players.

Oh puh-lease!

First of all, it was a trick question because Wade is only the head coach in name only. He and JG share the same responsibilities.

And I really don't know (nor care for that matter) what backstabbing you refer to.

And as far as the Monte Kiffin comment, I don't seem to remember that Superbowl victory that Tampa won being credited to only Kiffin's defense.

Also, kiss JG bye-bye regardless how this turns out, unless Jerry gives him the job (even though he's definitely not ready for it).

I would gladly take Gruden and the 2007 version of the 'Boys and happily watch him lead and deliver a country sized butt-kickin' to the current Wade led 2009 team.

Everyday of the week and twice on Sunday(s).

Draegerman is dead on. Wade is a very good DC but is not a good HC. Of course, that is fine for Dallas, since Jerry is the de facto HC, JG is the OC and Wade is the DC.

BTW - Pasqualoni = :bang2: :ralph: :stop: :blech: :insane: :puke:

I've just decided that I'm not drunk enough yet. So from here on out, everytime Wade's name gets mentioned, I shall drink another beer.

I'll live and die by this creed.

You still haven't given a reason why Gruden is better.

Of course.

NFL teams win 70% of their games all the time with bad Head Coaches.
