LOL! Nice back story. He did not say he bought them to save money. Besides being a wealthy 18 year NFL player and now a well paid coach! Risk it all to save a few bucks? LOL! If nothing else he is one dumb SoB!

But instead of going down the hallway to seek a professional opinion from a Bears team doctor or trainer, or even go see his personal physician, Wilson decided to experiment with a drug he discovered on the Internet. It promised to combat some of the symptoms that were making his life harder. He didn't tell a soul except for his fiance.

When folks due turn to obtaining discounts drugs its after they are recommended for that condition. They, in most cases, dont evaluate, diagnose and prescribe their own treatment. I am sure it happens. There was no reason for it to happen in this case.

In addition, it depends on the medication. Meds that are clearly being taken illegally for getting high or getting buff charge a premium, they dont discount. They are more expensive in many cases. If you ask me how I know I will deny it.

I know people who drive to Mexico to obtain illegal drugs for inappropriate use too.
You can believe whatever you want, but there is no evidence whatsoever to support your theory. I wouldn't cling to it if I were in your shoes, but you go on and do whatever it is you are trying to do here. I wouldn't want to look that ridiculous, but that's just me.

Man, are you judgemental! I am not trying to do anything. I thought your opinion that he bought drugs to save money was naive to say the least. So back at ya.

I will work harder on agreeing with everything you say:rolleyes:

I don't care if you agree with me or not. Some of my favorite posters are the people who don't. But your reasoning on this is flawed and you've gone off on wild tangents. Like that eh bought it to distribute it to the Bears.

Oh brother. Even the NFL itself acknowledges his story, yet you need to go off on a wild goose chase? Why? You're not going to get the wild goose. It's a snipe hunt.

He's human and he did something many humans do, he bypassed a Medical Doctor and bought something to try and improve his health. You've done it. I've done it. Thousands of people have. Probably millions of people have in some way or another sought to treat themselves without the assistance of a Doctor. There are any number of reasons for this. The main one is the one he has already copped to. He just wanted to feel better.

I don't see the need for all of this X-files mumbo jumbo you're tossing out. If that makes me judgmental then guilty as charged. I prefer to use logic.

My man, you are doing the exact same thing u accuse me of. Your story about mexico was a good one, just totally irrelevant and wrong. And there you go off on another tangent! How do you know what he did and why? LOL!

I did not say he bought them for the Bears. I said it was possible. I dont know, just like you dont. What I will not do is take him at his "word" thru the press without using a little thought.

But, allow be to explain why I am skeptical. Not accusatory, skeptical. If you paid any attention to drug scandals recently is is quite often the runner -not a player, but a person within the organization who obtains the enhancers.

2ndly, he bought drugs illegally. There is no way around that. Curiously enough, it was HGH, which could not only help him, but just happens to help the people he works with play better. And he did it on the down low. Sorry, that makes me skeptical. It doesnt have to be x files when they guy got caught with a smoking gun for petes sake.

In addition, the guy has the best medical treatment at his finger tips. Along with a prescription plan that would pay for his. No reason to save money on a $5 copay. Those are folks without insurance. Bad analogy my friend.

So the NFL believes him? LOL! They believed Mike Vick when he denied it a month ago too. As I said, if nothing else he is one big dummy.

The HGH is federally regulated and it could only be prescribed and administered by a doctor.

Wilson obtained a prescription from a doctor he never saw, which makes his prescription illegal, he then used that illegal prescription to purchase HGH. So, IMO, he violated two controlled substance regulations.

I realize he was trying to improve his lifestyle (something we can't blame him for) but I can't understand why he took that route to obtain HGH. Why not go through proper channel to obtain HGH?

Its possible he tried to go through legal channels and talked to a doctor and that the doctor told him he couldn't prescribe HGH for diabetes. There are cases of cancer patients obtaining marijuana through illegal channels.

I think Wade knew it was illegal, but that he didn't think it was wrong to try and make his illness better. A shade of gray thing instead of looking at it as black and white. I'm sure we all might do that at times or would in certain situations, especially when dealing with quality of life.

If thats the case it would be a valid excuse.

What baffles me is he put everything at risk. HGH is not a cancer med,or even a diabetes med. Its a banned substance in his profession. He knew that. You have to wonder why he would risk it if he had legal access. Perhaps he didnt.

I heard about the Wade Wilson thing and clicked this thread this morning thinking I would get something totally different than what I have read thus far. For the record, I agree that doomsday should stop backing into that corner while he can still inch his way out. :p:

Perhaps he was embarassed by the whole thing. It happens. It's kind of a strange parallel to make but an abundance of good law abiding men go to strip clubs regularly and never tell their wives about it. Why do you think it happens that way? hmmm

Yeah I thought about that, being embarassed by it but having diabetes isn't embarassing, is it? I don't have it so I guess I'm not aware of it being embarassed situation for those who live with it.

I play semi pro football. I'm a left guard. The left tackle is 15 years younger than me and a hot head. He's very "macho" acting. I like him and we get along very well but I would have never known he had diabetes if he didn't virtually pass out a few weeks ago on the sideline due to dehydration and (read on). It was a very hot muggy evening and halfway through the 2nd Q his hands started shaking. I told him to keep water in his system. He obliged and the game went on. He tried to give it a go in the 2nd half but the shaking continued... It wasn't until paramedics were treating him on the sidelines that he let it be known he had diabetes and missed an insulin treatment the day of the game. He could have told that to me because we're pretty close but he chose to keep that locked up inside hoping it would go away. All along I am thinking dehydration but it turned out to be a combination of the two.

You seem to be pretty excited by it. Did you accidentally forget to exclude Mike Vick from your fantasy football autodraft or something? :D

LOL!!!!

No, I am just surprised someone you dont see how dumb this was. The guy got caught as part of a drug ring sting, not some self searching healing trip to the Yogi.

Oh, and BTW, side note, we lost a coach for a time too!

Apparently some people do take HGH to treat diabetes. It may be that it works for some not enough for others so the medical community doesn't prescribe it for that.

It was banned in Wade's former profession, but technically it isn't banned in the coaching profession. The commisioner doesn't have a union to deal with when it comes to the coaches so he can basically do what he wants to them and the only avenue the coaches have is to take it to court.

I don't understand how it baffles you to why he would do it, you need to put yourself in his shoes. Try dealing with his health issues. Do you really think you wouldn't try HGH if you heard that some people have had success with it?
