To me, it seems simple enough. There probably isn't a whole lot of doctor's that would prescribe HGH for diabetes. There might not be a whole lot of documentation (clinical proof) that shows that it'll help diabetes... which doctors need in order to prescribe medicine. It certainly isn't the normal prescribed routine for diabetes, that's for sure.

More likely, Wilson read that HGH might be able to assist diabetes patients and thought he might as well give it a shot. If nothing else, it would help aging and other aspects of his body... even if it didn't help his diabetes.

So, never thinking that coaches would be looked at for taking a physically performance enhancing drug, he ordered some online and simply put it on his credit card.

That would make sense to me, even without the NFL coming out and saying there was evidence supporting Wade's side. With the league doing so... it seems like pure grassy knoll BS to say otherwise.

You just beat me to it. I doubt Dr.s are going to prescribe HGH for diabetes. That doesn't mean that it can't help some patients. Like I said... at worst it will slow aging and help make the patient stronger.

Doctors aren't going to prescribe it though, I'd bet.

I'm pretty sure doomsday has his ears plugged but nice read nevertheless.

Apparently some people do take HGH to treat diabetes. It may be that it works for some not enough for others so the medical community doesn't prescribe it for that.

It was banned in Wade's former profession, but technically it isn't banned in the coaching profession. The commisioner doesn't have a union to deal with when it comes to the coaches so he can basically do what he wants to them and the only avenue the coaches have is to take it to court.

I don't understand how it baffles you to why he would do it, you need to put yourself in his shoes. Try dealing with his health issues. Do you really think you wouldn't try HGH if heard that some people have had success with it?

I didnt say I had a problem with it if its true and its that the case. Then yes,I would do the same thing.

It only baffles me if he had legal access and didnt pursue it. It doesnt say anywhere that he was denied it by his own doctor. By his admission he only says he did it on his own without anyone else's knowledge. Here is an article with his quotes. Please note the article mentions speculation about others, dismissing it, but recognizing its possibility.

Its banned from Wade's current profession. He was suspended as a result.

If this was his only resort, of course I am sensitive to it.

I guess some think Diabetes is similar to the common cold.

Forget the stories about Wade having blood vessels in his eyes rupture and need surgery. Forget that diabetics often can go blind.

Forget the fact that body parts like feet have to be amputated.

Forget that being hooked to a machine that functions for your kidneys is tedious and unpleasant.

Forget having to get regular shots

Forget that you constantly have to monitor what you eat and your blood sugar.

Anyone want to ask Ron Springs if he'd have tried HGH in the same way if he had the chance?

Just take some more Vitamin C and smile while people call you a dummy for daring to even consider trying anything to curb the disease which owns your life. If they had the same disease they'd have walked the straight and narrow path so finely that Mother Teresa and Gandhi would look like sinners.

My man,I am all ears. Its sounded like an opinion void of fact.

You guys have no idea why he went in this direction.

But, since when dont NFL doctors give their patients almost anything they want? Now that would be news!

I play semi pro football. I'm a left guard. The left tackle is 15 years younger than me and a hot head. He's very "macho" acting. I like him and we get along very well but I would have never known he had diabetes if he didn't virtually pass out a few weeks ago on the sideline due to dehydration and (read on). It was a very hot muggy evening and halfway through the 2nd Q his hands started shaking. I told him to keep water in his system. He obliged and the game went on. He tried to give it a go in the 2nd half but the shaking continued... It wasn't until paramedics were treating him on the sidelines that he let it be known he had diabetes and missed an insulin treatment the day of the game. He could have told that to me because we're pretty close but he chose to keep that locked up inside hoping it would go away. All along I am thinking dehydration but it turned out to be a combination of the two.
I guess it could be a "macho" thing and for a football players, any ailment could be considered as a sign of being weak, hence hide the illness from everybody, including close friends.

My initial knee jerk reaction was to get rid of Wilson when I first read the suspension article but after reading more about Wilson's situation, his frankness to commish and J. Jones, along with a sincere apology, my feeling has greately changed and I believe he is paying a stiff penalty for his mistake and he should remain with the club.

Tangent!!!

Hostile, no one said he shouldnt take care of himself. I think you would call that extreme! LOL!

But, have you bothered to read about the affects of GHB on diabetics? Google it. Sounds to me like to causes more problems than it helps. I dont see where its a wonder drug as its being pushed.

I'm sure you read my story about my left tackle. Why didn't he just tell one of the other players or one of the coaches he missed an insulin shot? Why did he wait until he was virtually passed out on the sideline to tell one of the paramedics that takes a medical history on the spot?

Also, why don't good wunnerful hubbys tell their loving wifes they frequent strip clubs? Is it embarassing? Are they doing anything illegal?

It's less about "knowing it all" since we can't possibly know unless we're Wade Wilson, and more about understanding the motives behind doing such a thing. If Wade never had any sort of life altering issue to deal with in diabetes and was just buying HGH on the sly then I might tend to agree with your line of thought.

Understand that doctors don't just prescribe things because you think it might help with your illness. I think Wade would have had a tough time getting a legal prescription for HGH to treat diabetes, but it doesn't mean it wouldn't help.

There is no specific ban against coaches using anything. Players are banned from using steroid and hormones under the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Players Association. The coaches have no agreement with the nfl and no union to defend them. The commisioner is basically punishing Wade because it was conduct detrimental to the league (since its illegal). Wade's only option would be to take the nfl to court over this.

All the more reason to ask the NFL about it first, surely they would have said yes and if they said no then he'd have to decide on being a coach or his health. Didn't I read that he quit taking them because it didn't work? Maybe he should have talked to more people about this first.

Why would a diabetic take a date rape drug?

I know a lot more about diabetes than you might think even though I am not one myself. I will leave it at that.

Yeah. I, personally, never thought of it as a macho thing but I witnessed it first hand. Wade has played at the highest level for many years and the macho in him is there for good. It's no surprise he tried to hide his diabetes. How many of us knew he had diabetes before this story broke?

That's a decision that Wilson made... and apparently, he thought it could help in his situation.

Heck, a lot of people take HGH just to stay younger looking and strong. Doctors would advise against that (if they value their medical license)... but a whole lot of people think the benefits outweigh the negatives.

You seem to be arguing here just to argue.

Thats all possible. And if that the case he should do what he has to do.

The guy had HGH delivered to the Bear facility. I know that. I know he bought them illegally. I know he bought them as part of a ring that included athletes who were taking them as performance enhancing drugs.

If it comes out he had no other recourse, then he will be justified.

Oh do you? If you did in fact bother becoming informed you would know they didnt work for Wade.

Wilson said his intent was to help with his blood-sugar levels, among other symptoms, but that it wound up sending his blood sugars ''all over the map.''

All that for nothing. God bless him, I hope he is OK.
