Just proves you don't have a clue about baseball.
Just proves you have zero sense for exaggeration.

Did you also think I was being totally serious when I compared it to tap-dancing and watching paint dry?

How 'bout when someone says they're so hungry that they could eat a horse?

Never saw your post talking about tap dancing and watching paint dry.. the real question is, what's more taxing.. being a catcher and being involved in every play, or being a soccer goalie while you stand around and maybe defend one shot on goal all game long?

Soccer sucks and I take comfort in knowing that it will never be as big in the US as it is elsewhere.

Not that I really hate soccer but it doesn't compare to the other 3 sports. There are only three major sports. Football, Basketball, and Baseball. Hockey is fun to watch in person because of the massive amount of contact but soccer can't even offer that. Instead, players have to fake being hit.

Sorry, soccer just isn't on part with the other 3 and is less appealing than Hockey. It might as well be competitive knitting.

I didnt post much and I'm not try to change anybody's mind here about the soccer. But I watch soccer all my life and I think there're plenty of contacts in soccer to me. IDK. That may be the case in the US or whatever game you've watched.

I hate the faking too but hey if the ref give you a penalty kick, I'll do it. It's the mentallity of the game. Win first.:

Who cares? That has nothing to do with the sport itself...

Can't be a good sign for baseball when its fans avoid the topic of "what does the SPORT itself have to offer" like the plague.

I don't care about the "atmosphere". I don't care about the relaxation of sitting in the ballpark. It's an unathletic sport that takes very little physical effort to play (compared to every other major American sport).

On top of THAT, the MLB is loaded with cheaters. Playing the least taxing sport wasn't enough... Bonds, McGwire, Canseco, etc. needed to make things even EASIER. You don't get more pansie than that.

And some of you baseball fans have the nerve to question soccer players' manhood. Hilarious.

When the sport fosters 14 murders in and around the stadiums, you damn well better believe it has to do with the sport.

You put 14 murders in the US in and around NFL stadiums over during or post games in 2 seasons and watch how fast the backlash becomes overwhelming and the NFL's profitability disappears. How about the other 6 murders in the last month? Nothing to do with the sport either? Nope, people getting killed over soccer matches is sadly par for the course to the point "only" two stabbings/beatings were considered a move forward by Italian authorities.

Just how stringent is the drug testing in Caribbean and South American countries these days for the international star players from those areas?

Not saying that baseball didn't look the other way to save itself after the lock out, but the guys you mentioned are gone and just as tarnished as the **** that are A-Fraud and Manny. BoSox fans really have to look at their two WS titles and wonder where all of those oddball blown ligaments were coming from along with the immediate downward spiral of some of the key players on those teams once testing was implemented.

NBA has it's officiating issues that are front and center and MLB has the Mitchell Report still hanging over it and rightfully so on both accounts.

However, to think soccer is above reproach with more than a murder a week tied to it in the past month is disheartening from a societal standpoint.

More spin.

I'm concerning myself with the 90 minutes played on the field, in between the lines. If you're worried about the behavior of... the fans!?... after the game and are somehow villifying the athletes because of what the fans might do after the game, that's your issue.

It's a societal problem in those countries that has zero to do with the sport itself. Notice how violence doesn't break out after MLS games in the US.

But it did after the game in Reliant just last week. Guess you skipped that article up there.

A player also shot and killed a spectator. You skipped that article as well?

Spin huh? 6 people dead, murdered, in the last month directly after games is just spin? Sickening.

David Beckham having to be restrained from going into the stands by security this past week from fighting with fans? Missed that too did you?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...s-hoarding-confront-LA-Galaxy-supporters.html

Guess that's just spin too? No violence after games of the MLS? Nah, just the biggest player trying to get to the fans, nothing to see there, move along folks, bury the story.

Just concerning yourself with the play on the field??? Mmmm hmmm, turning a blind eye would be a more apt description.

But please, by all means, point us to the drug testing policies of the Premier League and associated European leagues so we can judge for ourselves if there may or may not be cheating involved as you so vehemently rail against in the MLB.

EDIT: Nevermind. Found the PL testing policy myself.

2, count them 2 random players are picked after a match for testing. Color me impressed. Not.

After each match? That's no cupcake policy.

And the testing policy for the World Cup is much stricter, I'm sure. I only watch the World Cup.

I have no problem with the description.

I'm guessing you're the type of fan who concerns himself with Romo's love life?

Yeah, I do turn a blind eye to the actions of fans. Why the hell wouldn't I?

And I turn a blind eye to things that happen outside the lines, so long as they don't affect the on-field product.

I didn't care about Irvin's coke habit until it got him suspended. He partied his way to an outstanding career and 3 Super Bowl wins. I'm not a pretentious judge of character, I'm a fan of the sport.

As for the Beckham incident, what is that supposed to prove? That soccer's a "savage" sport? Because the general opinion of the soccer haters is quite the opposite. Do you have any evidence to suggest that this sort of behavior is common among soccer players?

Is the NBA a savage sport because of the Ron Artest brawl in Detroit? How about the NFL? Raiders fans are as trashy as they come, and let's not forget Shaun Ellis throwing the huge chunk of snow at the Seahawks fan. Or Marvin Harrison choking out a kid at the Pro Bowl for requesting an autograph. Or Maurice Jones-Drew assaulting the dude in Westwood.

Why am I even talking about this? I don't consider the fans one iota when watching a sport. I never knew there were people who did.

Just shut up about soccer! It sucks and thats a proven fact! Run around, chase a ball, and kick it in any direction if it gets close to you. Anyone and their grandma can do that. Theres a reason all the unathletic dorks quit baseball, football, and basketball and go sign up for soccer. It takes no extraordinary talent to play soccer and its boring as hell to watch. The only reason its soo popular around the world is because those countries don't have professional baseball or football. Look at Japan. They have a great professional baseball league but I've never seen them going crazy for a soccer match. Why? Because its sucks and they have something much better to watch. Like I said before, soccer is merely one notch above the Boston Marathon on the excitement meter. Thats more than enough to make me turn the channel or go mow the grass. There isn't a soccer player alive that could play professional baseball, football, or basketball but I'd bet a ton of guys from those three sports could dominate the highest levels of soccer with very little training and practice.

It takes more athletic ability to play soccer. It takes more skill to play baseball. It's like trying to compare swimming to golf... everyone can swim, but the few that have "mastered" the sport play it incredibly well. Golf, like baseball, is much more maticulous.. waiting around, perfecting every inch of your game. It's repetitive, not very physically demanding (cough prince fielder cough), but takes tremendous skill.

I was never any great shakes at physics. Theoretically speaking on how hard it is to hit a 90 mph pitch which is really an average pitch in baseball. Certainly not world class speed a la Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, or any of the other great fireballers.

According to the formula Velocity = Distance / Time

90 mph = Velocity

60.5 feet (60 feet six inches) = distance from pitching rubber to home plate

Calculate for time

First you have to get mph into a calculation for feet per second. If my calculation is correct 90 mph equals 132 feet per second.

132 ft. per second = 60.5 ft / time

If my math is right a 90 mph pitch arrives at home plate in .458 of a second.

Then you have to take into account the pitcher strides towards home plate shortening the distance. Suffice it to say most batters facing a 90 mph fastball (which again is not that fast) have approximately 4/10 of a second to react to it and hit it.

That is why they say hitting a major league fastball is the hardest thing to do in sports.

For those of you who might have not taken Anatomy and Physiology in college, 4/10th of second is how fast the average human blinks.

I love soccer since there's nothing else for me to watch in the off-season.

I'll tune in for tomorrow's games for sure. Milan vs. America will be too early for me today.

Don't watch too much baseball, although I have enjoyed many a game especially the 1988 World Series with Kirk Gibson (who can forget that?). And you can't top a 4th of July without going to a minor league game and enjoying the fireworks afterwards.

IMO I can watch most of what comes out in the tube especially at playoff time or in special events like the Olympics or the world cup.

Having said all that, come Wednesday July 29th it'll be Cowboy's football 24-7. A man has to have priorities.
