Was Bobby Carpenter as bad as I'm hearing?

Well I am officially off the bandwagon. The guy is a pansie.

He wasnt all that bad... Except for the thing that he was a 1st round pick...

Having that in consideration, he's doing all he can to be kicked out of the team.

If he were a 5th rounder, or lower he would be just fine, but hell, 1st round...

I think this is what is pissing people off the most. We blew a 1st round pick on a linebacker that hates contact. He is slow to recognize plays and even when he does recognize the plays he avoids contact like it is the Ebola virus.

Bobby is not an NFL caliber linebacker, he just isnt.

He made one really embarassing play where he whiffed on a tackle by a couple of yards. Other than that, I did not see him mess up.

But the embarassing play was really obvious, so people are going to act like he made that play every single down. As far as I noticed, it was just once.

I have no love for Bobbie Carpenter, but it is clear for me that he is a favored whipping boy, so the negatives will always be focused on.

That's what I noticed: One bad play where he was called out for it by the announcers. If that makes for a bad game, then Newman had a bad game, Jenkins had a bad game, etc.

I guess Carp needed to make an interception to make up for his one bad play, because just being solid the rest of the game isn't good enough.

Because we didn't hear much of anything about him after the last couple of games or pre-season.

Then he makes 1--just 1--glaringly awful play and there are 10 threads about how much he sucks.

The rest of the game he played like he did against Tampa. Which is to say he was largely inconsequential.

The uproar is DIRECTLY related to the glaringly bad mistake.
