We aren’t a smart franchise . We are Football Idiots. And I might argue the greatest Football Idiots in the history of the league.

The rest of the NFL is actually trying to win placing their best people in front office and coaching.

Cowboys are proving that a great front office and coaching doesn’t actually matter that much. It’s truly remarkable Cowboy fans!!!
Since Jerry Jones has not made a football decision William McClay Steven and Jason the last three seasons have turn this franchise around. Make no mistake about it this is not the same old Cowboys

The Rams debacle was all on Marinellie. That was the worst game plan ever conceived....nobody was gonna have success w/ the way we were lining up. We did stuff in that game we didn't do all season...defensive formations...that just invited a beatdown. Still boggles my mind no one on the defensive staff got run after that BS.
Richard/Richards was at fault too! Hopefully they will learn from their mistakes, unlike Garrett who only makes excuses and rationalizes them (example: “ we were happy with our position on the field”, Garrett comment after our kicker misses a 50 something yard FG when we had plenty of time to run another play and get closer).

It's much easier to judge horse flesh than human flesh. Far fewer variables.

Nobody on defense was worth a crap during the rams game not one of them

They all got outschemed and punked around so the rams game isn’t good to go on

I’ll agree with you that this franchise certainly isn’t the franchise I grew up with but Jerry is still front and center. And until he steps down is still pursuing credit.

As always throughout the Jerry era we see better decisions when those he listens to convince him to go against his instincts.

Fans just want to believe he isn’t as involved because it provides them more hope.

We lost, because the Rams were a better football team in the trenches (on both sides of the ball). Talent also wins games. The Pats are an anomaly. Yes, try to be the Pats. Also, have realistic expectations like the rest of the NFL.

Was Lawrence a difference maker in the playoffs? In the 4th quarter did Lawrence make a play to help us win vs the Rams?
We should be over spending on the best coaches available. They do not count against the salary cap and great coaches can put their average to above average players in position to make big plays. See NE’s defense vs the Rams second ranked offense.

Coaching Matters a lot. We are screwed until Garrett is gone. Also, Richards and Marinelli failed big time vs the Rams. Look what NE’s average D with great coaching did to the Rams!
If there are all of these great coaches out there, why does the NFL turn over 6-8 every year and sometimes a couple during the year? Why do they recycle HC's?

The reason Booger said Garrett would get 5 offers with other teams is because there is a shortage of great HC's. What's crazy is that John Harbaugh will take an unlikely team to a SB win, be celebrated and his job be in question all of the other time.

Look at all of the clamoring here for Cowher or Payton, each with one ring. There is a very small group of men that have shown they're a level above the rest year in and year out.

Ya know, it's the smart man that takes a really good long look around the bar before leaving the 6 alone in search of an 8. If posters think we can't end up with a 4, just look at the history and this applies to the QB position as well.

And Captain, NE's D is anything but average and they have the best HC/DC in the game; however, every season he keeps distancing himself from the pack and proving he is one of a kind.

Payton went 7-9 three years in a row and last year his offense went into a hole the last 2 months of the season. He’s very good but he’s WAY overrated IMO.

Wonder how’d he done with Dak instead of Brees running that offense?

I think the main problem against the Rams was coaching, just like you said...………...it was just down right embarrassing how bad McVeigh outcoached Clappy in that game with all the misdirection and motion on offense. Notice how none of that crap worked against the Pats, that is because Hoody doesn't fall for gimmic chit like that.

As for DLaw, I think its a fair contract for a player that has had his overall production. Be it sacks, Qb hits, pressures, forced fumbles, ect...he is in the top 10 in virtually every category over the past several years. So taking his full body of work into account, I think its a fair deal for both him and the team.

agree with all of the above, ESP the bolded/underlined part...so true but yet so typical

It’s oh my gosh!

Of course you would not like this thread. You are the one person who actually thinks Garrett is a god.

Bigger mistake over paying Lawrence or keeping Garrett? A thousand times over, keeping Garrett.

I don’t think he’s a god.

And his strategy worked.

Not really. He did it to avoid playing on the tag last year. The Cowboys were going to pay him regardless and if he was 100% last year maybe he puts up two back to back seasons like 2017 and gets a bigger contract than this.

Bigger contract? What? Haha, he wasn't going to get more than what he got. He's a 4-3 DE, he was never going to get paid like Mack and Donald. Wasn't going to happen.

Him holding off on getting surgery was nothing but a benefit for him in negotiations. You really believe Jones didn't want to get this deal done before the 8-12 week healing time didn't impact his time at the start of the season? It was a factor, the guy got paid like he's the best 4-3 DE in the league.
