Wasn't Gallup supposed to replace Dez?

The problem was for some fans in their desire to claim the WRs corps was just fine and would be really good is that they ignored the reality that rookie WRs often take some time to get their feet under them. It might even take a full season. You occasionally get some rookies who make immediate, big impacts but it's not that often.

People should have tempered their expectations of Gallup and gone into this knowing the kid would likely need some time, maybe a lot of time, to get acclimated to the NFL game.

I still think he'll be a good WR and it's way to early to project what he is or won't be.

Agreed, I don't recall Dez being an elite WR straight away. I think it took him a little while.

Don't forgot those TDs were force fed to him plus many more throws. How many TD's would Robert Woods have had he been force fed like that since his yardage was pretty close.

There is little to no evidence he was "force fed".

How many games did Dez start as a rookie? Was he dominant from day 1?
Dez underachieved for all of his talent. Can you imagine how great he could have been had he not been a head case and worked on his route running? I won't deny that he helped this team and had some very good numbers but he never reached his full potential.

lol, of course.

Yeah, I'm sure with 3-4 seconds to get the ball out in a pocket, what was going through Dak's head was "I gotta get Dez the ball or he'll be a big meanie poo poo head on the sideline"

Maybe, just maybe, Dez got the targets he did because he was the best WR on the field and the best in the red zone? I know, it's crazy.

If Dez did get all those targets as you say, I wonder what he was ever upset about on the side lines?? I bet he was mad because his pizza delivery was late. Ya, that HAD to be it...

I can't believe how many posters on this board are far more miserable when the Cowboys win, then they are when they lose!

First off, YOU said he got all those targets. Do you have the memory of a goldfish? Do you remember just a few minutes ago posting that Dez was force fed? Now you're claiming I'm the one saying it....

Which is it? Maybe go to your garage and play some sad songs or something and hop out.

Maybe because we see it's only week 2 and know problems are most likely going to rear their ugly head in the coming weeks?

I can't believe how some of you act as if we won the Super Bowl because we beat the Giants in week 2.

Yup.

It took him a bit to get into the lineup. Roy Williams probably started for too long based off his deal and IIRC Austin the other receiver.
That being said, Bryant did flash his freak athleticism his rookie year, especially on punt returns like the one below

Wasn't Gallup supposed to replace Dez? Because I don't see anything from him. He's not fast, he runs lazy routes, I suppose he has good hands but I haven't seen anything up to this point. Can he block? He looks like a worse version of old dez.

Am I missing something? I know he's a rookie but damn.
If the throw vs the Panthers was on target everyone would love him because he’d have 40 more yards. Combine that with the throw vs the Giants needing to be 2 yards further inside and those are 80 yards he lost because of bad ball placement

I swear some ppl are either dumb or just make threads to troll...

Obviously, he wasn’t drafted to replace Dez... He’s a freakin rookie, they even come out and said “we are taking a receiver by Committee approach”. He was drafted in the 3rd ROUND...

Exactly what I remember. I would like to think that Gallup is capable of returning punts. The problem is that we also have Tavon Austin and Cole Beasley, so that does make it a bit difficult to fit him in there. I could, however, see him returning kicks.

Well if that happens, then that's when you should be complaining about it. Maybe it's most likely to get better. I know, I know, Romo and Dez aren't walking in that door. We sure do miss all that playoff success and Lombardi trophies they brought us.....

You said he was soooo great and that's why he got all of his targets in the endzone. I was responding to that claim. I stand by saying he was force fed too many throws from Dak. Even being force fed, it was never enough for Dez. With Dez being super awesome and totally great, he still underachieved. He vanished during games, DB's always got in his head, dropped passes he should have had etc, etc...

Post sufficient evidence to this claim.

I can show you how our receivers aren't doing diddly poo anywhere on the field so that might be why Dez actually got his targets. Got anything outside of your dislike for Dez?

Yes... You're missing at least 6 more weeks of evaluation.
