Ok so was Parnell not looking good? Or was Free having an issue? That's what I want to know.

I think moving Free to RG is weakening two spots. Free is by far the best option at RT and not the best option at RG. Leaving Free at RT, and signing a true RG only strengthens the OL. Berny and Parnell will be the main back ups as they should be.

Sour grapes. You have been against this signing from the beginning.

Nothing wrong with not being for it. We are not talking about a 30 year old OG. We are talking about a 36 year old player who hasn't played since 2011.. I think that he and I and others can be reserved about this. If it was Moore I would feel a lot better but yeah no I can't get excited over this.

No matter how good/bad he is, he has to be better than what we've got available at RG, period.

I love this move! OL is becoming one of the strengths of the team, imo. Great to add a great veteran leader to this young line!

To me Parnell was fine against the competition he went up against. This move screams of solidarity among the OL. We instantly go to a group of OL that can go three deep at all pos.

Cowboys signed OG Brian Waters.
Waters worked out for the Cowboys on Tuesday and was signed to an undisclosed contract. He sat out all of 2012 while waiting to earn his release from the Patriots. Waters, 36, likely won't be active for Sunday's season opener but will be an upgrade over Doug Free at right guard. Sep 3 - 7:07 PM

Then he should have signed the day after our last preseason game.

He might have been holding out for an injury around the league, or that Jerry would blink. Which could have happened. Or maybe he blinked with Free playing OG.

Dude, this isn't hard to understand. Smith-Leary-Fred-Free-Parnell was fine, but Smith-Leary-Fred-Waters-Free is better.

Actually it is hard to understand. I have posed very good questions. I don't get how you can say its just that simple. We have no idea what we are getting. Everyone is banking that he is the guy who played with the pats in 2011. I'm not so sure that's what we are getting. So I'm not going to do cartwheels over a 36 year old OG

Not for or against it. Just don't see him being the missing part like everyone else does. We will see though

He's not the solution at that age. I think the last thing any of us wants is to have our chances hurt due to the OL. I'm glad they did something.

We will see. I just can't get excited over a 36 yr old g that hasn't played football in 18 months

He was worked out this morning. I don't think he would have been signed if he was out of shape

For months, there’s been speculation that the Cowboys would sign veteran guard Brian Waters. It’s finally happening.

Brad Sham, the longtime radio voice of the Cowboys, reported on Twitter that the Cowboys and Waters have agreed to a deal.

Despite a report in mid-August that the Cowboys’ pursuit of Waters was dead, we’ve been reporting that Waters would play in the right situation. Apparently Jerry Jones has offered enough money to make Dallas the right situation.

Waters played for the Chiefs for 11 seasons and then started all 16 games for the Patriots in 2011 before sitting out in 2012. Waters has a reputation for being a smart and savvy veteran, so if he has stayed in shape he should be able to make an immediate contribution in Dallas.

I'm excited for the positive impact Waters can have on Travis Frederick's development too. This is an excellent signing.
