Watkins takes over for Williams... permanently?

I believe so but do we really want Watkins at FS?

I would rather him be in the FS which is his natural position than SS where you are asked to be more involved in run support.

Better hope the front 7 does their job at stopping the run. If it comes to having Watkins come up and help out in doing that, won't be good.

I have more than once looked at the coverages and some of the mistakes made and thought, man I know Roy wouldn't have done that.

Like let Desean Jackson run by you for a TD (or what should have been if Jackson wasn't a moron)?

I wish him all the best. But for folks to suggest that he's going to supplant Roy, well it is just plain silly. Watkins can't hold Roy's jock. I've been pretty critical of Roy over the years but he's head and shoulders above Watkins who I see as a decent backup and ST guy.

Roy is not the same player he used to be and changing his number won't help him either....just plain silly.

Does this feel a bit like last year? Remember last year how in our home opener, we played an NFCE rival whom we thought would be a cakewalk, but instead turned out to be a see-saw battle, only to lose our starting NT at the beginning of the game. Then we travel to an AFC opponent's place the week after-even though Miami sucked, they nonetheless shine in their home openers. But nonetheless we spanked them there.

This year-we play our road opener in Cleveland where the game gets televised to a 3pm wide audience, and we roll through the game. And then we start our home opener against an NFCE rival...whom we thought we would cakewalk, but ends up being a see-saw battle with bodies flying around(i.e. the Roy injury-this time, at least he's gone for only a month).

Then in wk3-like last year, we play an NFCN team on NBC SNF.

All I can say is-enjoy the ride!

Hopefully Like when Fergy got hurt Ratliff emerged.

I hope Watkins emerges from behind Roy. But its a pipe dream.

Yes, but he's still a FAR better player than Watkins. Anyone who believes otherwise should probably have their zone account revoked for stupidity.

Our run D suffered for a few games though with Fergy out. We adjusted nicely after that, but nonetheless it took a few games.

Fortunately-Roy will only be out 3-4 games.

Wade said that Roy wasn't supposed to be the guy on him.

And yes, I would trust roy more than watkins every day of every week.

We all know Wade protects guys in the media.

So we wont know if that was Roy responsibility or not.

Remember in '05 we all wanted Flo's head for all of his boneheaded penalties like his false starts(and not to mention too his costly hold in the 1st Skins game lost it for us). But when he went down, most people here didn't realize how valuable he was to us UNTIL just that...missing all those games. Torren Tucker may not have been a penalty machine, but he couldn't hold anyone's jockstrap...including that Skins' journeyman DE Phil Daniels.

I hope we hold up for the next 3-4 weeks, but I am VERY nervous.

Pretty much-we've had secondary issues since Darren Woodson went down in '04.

He was the catalyst that held our entire unit together. To this day, he is sorely missed.

Should be pretty clear there is no way the coaches would ask him to cover Jackson.

I am also pretty sure the eagles didn't want dawkins covering TO in the endzone one on one, but it happens.

should be pretty clear he could have been playing deep safety.

But the fact is that you don't know and i don't know.

So leave it alone.

In saying what he did about Jackson not being Roy's cover, he did the exact opposite of what everyone is saying. He didn't protect anybody; he threw Pacman (or someone else?) under the bus.

Wade said the exact opposite of this in his press conference today.

Yeah, Watkins will give the run support that Roy does. Sure he will.

Our front 7 does a fine job of stopping the run by themselves without help.
