Totally don’t agree. You just have to get pressure on the quarterback. Consistently yes, the rules help the wide receivers. But that’s it. yes we can’t lose the starting running back and expect to win a playoff game. Especially when your receivers are sloppy.

Eagles at 8? We are a bit over rated at this point. Niners still have the best DL and that's where it starts. Eagles DL is better than ours.

Jets were 4th last year w/ a terrible O. Which means they were on the field a lot.

They also just added fine prospect Will McDonald, along w/ Al Woods(if he has any gas left in tank).

Makes sense to think they could be #1.

Quinn and the Cowboys seem to get it now. The idea is to get the opposing QB to make a mistake. Both teams get the ball about the same number of times. The winner of the game is the one who scores the most per possession. Disguise your coverage, pressure him, etc. If you can achieve that you might get a turnover or at least a quick punt. Not only do you take away one possession for the opponent but hopefully you set your offense up for an easy 7. The Cowboys did that a lot last year.

That said, its still up to the opposing QB to make that mistake. If he simply doesn't, then you are kind of screwed and the rules are such that an offense can score almost no matter what a defense does. The offense HAS to score points in today's NFL in order to win. While I think this might be Dallas' best defense in decades, its not going to be an 85 Bears situation where they carry the team.

And yes, the best you can do is to form a DLine that can collapse a pocket to force the opposing QB to hurry his throws. Along w/ stopping the run, of course. Basing your D on coverage is just silly, as the rules have tied the DB's hands behind their backs.

They had a great D last year and it was young. Should improve. They are going to have to be a heck of a D to be better than ours. I dont buy the Eagles D dropping so far.

Ward is a huge loss for the 49ers. they now have two 4.6 athletes on the backend starting.

Mazi is an unproven rookie. The jury is out on him. Hopefully he turns into a good player. I just want to see our defense maintain its level of play throughout the season. We started lights out the beginning of last season. Our pass rush was second to none, the best I had ever seen for the Cowboys, but it began to sputter out later in the season. As the season went on we started giving up a lot more points. Instead of fading later in the season, I want to see us come on and finish strong.

It effected the Chiefs defense as well. The had the second best pass rush to the Eagles last season.

Rams just won a super bowl based mostly on their D. Chiefs D was 11th in the NFL last season, no bargain. Philly's D was 2nd. Before the super bowl, which was undoubtedly an offensive show, the Eagles' D held they opponents to 7 pts in both games. The Chiefs D held both their opponents to 20.

You simply won't win a super bowl w/o a decent D.
