who wants a 72 year old coach?

insufferable that the NFL loves retreads so much.

Good luck to him on the college level, its a totally different game
I would normally agree but BB is not your normal coach. The biggest factor for me is what drives a coach? With BB I wonder if he is driven to add another SB without Brady?

Thanks for the "history" lesson. That will be my only comment of your descriptions of Tom Landry in his 60's.....wow. :omg:

I brought it up because the circumstances with both coaches were somewhat familiar.

Tom Landry had 20 consecutive winning seasons and Belichick had 19 consecutive winning seasons.

This means that the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots drafted in the bottom third for two decades. Year after year after year every other team got their share of top picks in the draft. It wasn't just the 1st round; it was every round.

If your team played in a Super Bowl then they had one of the bottom two picks in every round of next year's draft. That was 5 times for the Cowboys, 9 times for the Patriots during their respective streaks.

For the 20 seasons from 1967 to 1986 the highest draft pick of their own for the Cowboys was #17 overall. They picked 20th or lower 18 times during those 20 seasons.

Since there are so many fans in favor of the "tank" initiative, they obviously believe that talent is the predominant trait of winning teams.

It follows that the converse is also widely believed. That is, you cannot build a team if you don't have access to a superior level of talent. In addition, any team that has been up for so long will eventually go down. There is no other direction for them.

This is in defense of Belichick's reputation and current ability. There have been many elderly NFL coaches that decided to go coach a small college somewhere. George Allen is an example, Dave Wannstedt is another. Belichick would do a great job if that is what he wants.

I said I wasn't going to respond to the Landry comments.......that's what I said.........but it's tough......
A lot of nonsense from a Landry worshipper. Picking at the bottom of the round only matters in the 1st round. You can't get top of the 1st round talent but your late 1st is higher than an early 2nd. Your late 2nd is higher than an early 3rd and so on. There's no excuse for having poor draft classes.

Landry was a dreadful head coach in the late 80s. The game past him by. The day he was fired was a great day for the franchise. Just like the day he was hired was a great day. When Jimmy took over he had nothing to work with. The worst team in football.

You can be great at one point and then be terrible later. It's okay to say it. These people aren't God. Ezekiel Elliott was also once great and now he's terrible.

I doubt Bill is serious about NCAAF. Going to coach/recruit/retain players that are 18-22+ in a league he's never coached in at 72 sounds like the inverse of Saban bailing on the Dolphins.

I'm not a Belichick guy, but he has more SB appearances than Jerry and our entire coaching staff COMBINED.

Even at 72, he still craps on everyone in Dallas

Additionally, what does age matter when the GM/ HC/Team Doctor is 82 years old?

He’s going to do the interview circuit. This will certainly start teams looking for a coach to scramble a little and expedite the process. I’d be really surprised if he chose to coach in college when it’s all said and done!
