We who? I said it was stupid to rush to extend Crawford. Also who was sold on Lawrence? Finally, Hayden us the guy everybody wanted to replace.
We probably extended Crawford now because of what a special player he is.
Don't want to wait and get into a league wide bidding war.
Besides Hardy, the rest are jags are average at rushing the passer. That nascar package is not going to be as good as we thought.
Crawford has 5 sacks for his career, most he has ever had in a season is 3.
Hayden is a joke with a career total of 2 sacks.
Gregory is unknown right now.
Lawrence has 1 sack this year
And last is Mincey who has a career total of 26 sacks in his 8 year career, with the most he ever had in a season is 8.
They went against a horrible Seattle line and managed 0 sacks.

Thats all good, but seriously 0 sacks against a team that has given up over 30 sacks is horrible. Plus I didnt blame the defense for losing this game, just pointing something out.

As of right now I think the defense is fine. Its about as good as it should be. The offense is the one letting us down.
I will say this in that urban and thoughtful way that I half: Yeah, when you only allow 13 points from last year's Super Bowl loser, that is a major accomplishment. but it is a illusion.
This defense on a scale of 1 to 10 is maybe a 4 on a good day. Nothing more.
Still I appreciate the defense's effort on Sunday.
This DL isn't overrated per se...I think it was constructed thinking this offense would have #9 and #88 all season which would result in the offense scoring in the high 20's (28 or more possibly). That in turn would force the opposition to have to throw to catch up. Outside of the Atlanta game there hasn't been a situation that would make them optimize how this DL is built. Keep in mind against Atlanta, Hardy and Gregory weren't playing. Seems like they envisioned the team being more akin to the Colts teams Dungy headed up where the offense scored a ton so the DL can pin their ears back and get after the QB.
I would like to see how it works with #9 and #88 in there...

No we didn't. You can't get to the QB if the QB releases the ball in under three seconds.
You also can't get to the QB if the blatant holding that opposing offensive lines get away with against our team are not actually called.
If you think the team is getting hosed by reffing elsewhere, why wouldn't you think they wouldn't be getting hosed here either?
This 0-5 thing we are in the middle of makes people cranky. Romo comes back, we start scoring more points, the DL gets more and better opportunities to get sacks, we get more sacks, Marinelli walks on water again.
I'm glad you brought this topic up because, IMO, this is another position that the GM has overlooked. And this has been a while since he's brought in legit tackles to stuff and clog things up in the middle to allow the stud linebackers to do what they do. You build inside out. Build both lines FIRST.Besides Hardy, the rest are jags are average at rushing the passer. That nascar package is not going to be as good as we thought.
