We picked Escobar at 47, Pitt grabbed Bell at 48

This guy Leveon Bell has been nothing short of incredible. Imagine if we'd picked him up.

Still on a rookie contract, we'd be able to pay Dez, let Murray walk and pay some of our other FAs.

Just sayin....

Imagine how no one would know how amazing he is because he wouldn't be playing.

As Murray would be the starter ahead of him.

I don't understand this thread at all.

Let me splain it to ya. There were the first 46 picks in the draft that were irrelevant. Its that 47th pick thats the issue. Nobody in the first 46 whiffed, but boy that idiot Jerry and his puppet Red, well they blew this big time.

ok, can you look into your crystal ball and tell us who is the great player we should pick.

and lets not forget we had murray on the team already and you are here talking about taking a RB in the 2nd round after we had taken a RB already!!!!!

makes no sense at all.

It was confusing pick but I will say if Dallas didn't have Witten I think Escobar would actually be pretty good player.
Why Escobar was drafted is a mystery simply because he isn't getting the volume of playing time that his draft position dictates. Lots of variables exist as to why that is. Having Witten in front of him is a major roadblock at this point in time for one. Escobar is a good TE that we haven't utilized very much to our detriment not unlike the lack of touches Dunbar gets every game, think Darren Sproles. Unfortunately we have only one ball. If Witten would go down for any significant amount of time I think Escobar would enlighten some peoples minds about him.

It's not rocket science. If I was arguing against picking a def starter all of the people up in arms would have a strong case.
It's like everyone forgot Murray is in a contract year, has been used to death and will demand a large contract. "We already had Murray, we already had Murray". Jeez

Why would we use a 2nd rd pick on a TE when we needed help on defense?

Ok, then, why would you pick a RB when we needed help on defense ? and while you're at it, which defensive player we should have taken in the 2nd round ?

But Murray wasn't in a contract year last season when Bell was drafted.

A very long list of long term difference makers taken soon after Esco.
Just hoping he does well for us going forward

Why do we have to wait for him to retire?

Hey, I'm all for getting Escobar more touches, he clearly has good hands. It's just hard when you're in a talented receiving core and are on the same team as the best RB in the league.

Always the if's

If we didn't draft Zack Martin and went with Johnny Manziel...It would have been the biggest mistake since RG III

See, it swings both ways

yes, last year, murray wasn't in a contract year. he was in the middle of his contract!!!! so you draft a RB, so that you can draft another RB two years from now just in case your initial pick does great and you will lose him...oh wait, we did that, we used not a 2nd round pick but a 5th rounder. his name is randle!!!!

it just doesn't make sense to spend a high pick on a RB, when the year before you just picked one with another high pick!!!!!

jeez

My guess is that if were going to take a RB in that spot it would have been Eddie Lacy anyway.

I think at that time in 2013, many of us wanted them to grab OG, Larry Warford.
But there were good defensive players available too. Like Patriots leading tackler , LB, Jamie Collins. Or Giants' DTs, Jon Hankins . Plenty of others too.

At this point....just gotta say "Go Escobar".
