We really need better run game

We are great at creating explosive plays but the Texans Zone was a problem early & there is just so many times where I’m thinking the whole team would benefit if we could just run the freaking ball better.

I know getting Tyler Smith back will be huge.

Tyler Smith being back hopefully next week is going to make that left side open up. Bass has done a good job but Tyler S. bullies people and makes them regret their career choices

100% sure that when he gets back we have a better outcome with the runs -- particularly with Guyton playing at such a high level now.

Honestly, Javonte is good enough if the O line run blocking gets better which it will when Tyler Smith is back.

He doesn’t have the home run speed. Great vision and not a scared runner, but IMO a speedier guy might take better advantage

A better defense fixes this. The Cowboys would be much better off as frontrunners, instead of playing from behind against the better defenses. It forces the offense to press with the passing game, which in turn forces Prescott above 40 attempts per game (45 against Houston). I never want him throwing that many passes every Sunday. It means he is being more exposed than he should be as an older quarterback with an injury history.

Better special teams play would help. Finally...knowing that your defense is depleted at present it might be prudent to second guess trying 60+ yard field goals. Missing means really short fields for the opposing team. Dallas gave up THREE via the kicking game and I think Houston scored on all three of those short fields.

Doesn't have to be a runner but literally anyone who can catch a short pass and break a tackle would pull safeties up just as effectively

I honestly think that's what Shotty wants for his offence. Thats why Blue was drafted. Its why we Turp and CD taking so many WR screens and quick outside passes.

Personally I wish we had a runner who could attack the edges with speed.

But this line as constructed is pass first and often.

It’s a big problem, but we have faced 3 really good fronts in 4 games between NY, Baltimore, and Houston.

Also missing our best OL to injury doesn’t help. I think the ground game gets better as we move along and get Smith back and play some teams that aren’t as talented in their front 7

I think anyone thinking we need to bring in another RB is just ignorant of the current roster. What we need to do is split the carries more evenly between the backs we have. Tyler Goodson is a fine RB that just needs to be utilized more. He only got three carries in Houston but was averaging 4 yards per carry. J. Williams is just the kind of RB that needs lots of carries before he is performing at his peak. Talk of spending more money on an RB this season is just nonsensical. Bottom line is our running game got us three rushing touchdowns in Houston. It's doing fine and this is a lame thread that is for people that will argue anything.

Bass is a clumsy fool when running a trap. Smith will help out a lot. Seems like we were trying to trap and get off tackle because Texans inside stunts. We got some movement but Bass is horrible moving sideways.

My biggest concern at RB is depth/the rate they use J-Will.
If he gets injured, we will go from a solid #1 to waiver wire level guys.

Our run game is too vanilla. They need more misdirection run plays and definitely more outside runs. It gets tiring watching the RBs getting stuffed in the middle. There's absolutely no imagination.

Thanks for the insults. They made you sound extremely intelligent. But, here's the thinking of a football fool, your backup RB should be faster and more elusive than your starter.

I seen those change of pace backs be highly productive time and time again. And if you haven't seen that, then you haven't watched enough football.
